“Breat Location, Very Good Deluxe Room. Suite Well....”

Bally's Las Vegas

I checked into the hotel late at night and the Deluxe room I reserved was not available so I was upgraded(?) the first night to a suite.

I am sensitive to mold and upon entering the suite the first thing that hit me was the moldy smell. The outdated furnishings hit me later after I went down a short halway. I think the moldy smell was coming from the carpet which looked like it was original to the hotel's 1973 opening.

The main area was a very large vaulted room with very dated flea market scratched up chairs. It also had this large fake dead looking plant protruding from an oversized tarnished silver plantholder. The bathroom was open to the bedroom with a largejetted tub built into a platform with a great view of the stip. There were also two vanity areas, a water closet with the toilet, another room with the bidet, an enclosed ahower, and two closets. The pink marble everwhere was kind of a turnoff.

The bed was comfortable but as with a lot of buildings from the70's there was not great soundproofing. Although I was roung 20 floors up I was awakened a couple of times by traffic noise from below. Apparently there was s small opening in the padio door that magnified the sounds to the extent that it was almost like trying to sleep in the middle of a highway. I have a feeling they only use this room when other rooms are unavailable. The room has some great features but the carpet and some of the furnishing needs to be replaces along with soundproofing added around the windows. The tub layout kind of reminded me of Tony Montana puffing his cigar in Scarface.

Fortunately when I moved to the deluxe room the next day it was a total 180 degree turn for the positive. No moldy smell, tastefful furnishings a granite topped desk as well a granite bathroom. The bead, coucn, and bench were very comfortable.

If you are out late and you want something to eat just be warned that room service cuts off at midnight and the hotel does not have a 24 hour cafe as is the case with most other Las Vegas Hotels. There is a 24 hour cafe on the Paris side which gets extremely crowded as it serves both hotels. The two hotels are joined by a shopping promenade.

If I were given the room I book initially I would have rated the hotel four stars but the suite episode caused me to lower my rating to three stars.

Just returned from a seven night stay in Vegas. We spent the first 3 nights at the Palazzo and then 4 at Ballys. We had booked the 4 nights in the south tower for a total of $250 and to be honest we werent expecting much especially after checking out of the beautiful Palazzo.Check in was a breeze and the lovely lady at the desk ,without me even knowing ,put us on the 25th floor of the much better rated north tower.Result.The room was large, clean and in good order. We had a partial view of the Bellagio fountains.Bathroom was small but functional. It was warm enough to use the pool and was happy with it.There was always loads of space and you could buy a beer ($3) from the pool shop,a better option than the $7 beer from the pool bar.We used the Paris casino and bars as the Ballys casino is fairly bland.Infact to all intents and purposes you feel like you are actually staying at the Paris but for half the price. We enjoyed our stay at Ballys and would definetly consider staying there again.Ps .for mega cheap good grub exit Ballys at the sports book and walk the 200yds to Ellis Island. You wont regret it!!

Check in was quick, staff very friendly. Stayed in the North Tower. Made that request on line after reading about the negatives in the South Tower. Room was large & very, very clean. Housekeeping does a great job. This hotel is located in the middle of the strip, so walking to other locations is not a chore. Only downside was that we stayed Thur. to Tues. The entire town swells up on the weekend. Next trip it will be from Sun. to Thurs. Room rates will be cheaper. We will stay here again. Wonderful experience.

This was my 6th year in Vegas but my first stay in Ballys. I was quite nervous after reading some of these reviews but we really enjoyed it.
At check-in I was unsure whether to offer $20 for a North Tower room but tried just asking first. The reception guy was lovely and happily obliged. The room was MASSIVE!!! We had 2 double beds and still enough room to have a party :-) The decor was fresh and clean and plenty of hot running water all day. We did have a blocked sink one morning but I told reception on the way out and it was fixed on our return. The reception staff always seemed very friendly unlike the cleaners who never responded when you said Good Morning !
My only negative was that the room had a safe but you had to pay $3 a day which made me feel I was staying in a motel instead of Vegas strip hotel with such history!
The pool area was closed for renovations whilst we were there but we could use the Paris pool instead which was lovely (except for expensive bar drinks).
The singers in the entertainment lounge were fantastic and its a nice evening sat playing the machines listening to the tunes.
I've stayed at both Excalibur and Tropicana but these rooms were far better. I suspect standards are not as good as the Bellagio or Caesars but to be honest in Vegas you'll be out and about and only ever sleep in them anyway!!
Enjoy your trip to Vegas :-)

This was my second stay at Bally's and I think they must have renovated since last year. The furniture in the room was considerably nicer than I remember, though the new euro-style linens were a bit scratchy. The bathroom was the most disappointing, with pretty bad water pressure and a pathetic hair dryer, but it was still serviceable.
The property itself is decent, the casino is not as upscale as the newer hotels, but not as seedy as the Flamingo. I wasn't very impressed with the onsite food choices, but Bally's is connected to Paris so it's an easy, air conditioned walk to those better options. Finally, it is a stop on the monorail, which is very convenient, particularly if you are visiting for a convention.
