Myself and my cousin stayed here for 10nights in June.
I have to say from all the reviews i read i was worried, but i had also read some good ones. We had limited money so thats why we choose the Strat....
We got there and booked in fine, not long to wait. Went to our room on the 15th floor. We had a standard room. I was waiting for the smokey smell...NONE!!! The room was clean and fresh. It was a decent size for the two of us. The maids came everyday and we had fresh towels andnew toiletries everyday...i guess thats because we hid the toiletries everyday to get new ones. There are a few good channels on the tv. I really was surprised. I stayed at the luxor in 2000 and the room was the same size and similar furniture as the one at the Strat. Don't get me wrong the Luxor is nicer overall.
Anyway, there are a few shops and places to eat. We loved the Courtyard Buffett. We couldn't eat enough. So try it. the voucher book was useless. they have a free laundry room which was handy. They have two pools one of which is for those who may want to go topless and don't want kids running around.
I found some stuff to be helpful. The hotel is far from the main hustle and bustle, but we walked it several times in 110degrees heat and it was ok. It was a great experience going in and out of all the fantastic hotels.
If you can get to go up the tower do so. The view at night is breathtaking. I didn't go on the rides....so can't comment.
We did have one incident however, we were coming back from a night club and the security acused us of being prostitutes while on the way to our room. I showed him id and told him i was a guest and he didn't seem to believe us. This was embarrassing to say the least infront of other guests. I complained and nothing much was done about it. So i complained again and still nothing. Finally i complained a 3rd time and we got tickets to a show and an apology. So if something goes wrong please make sure you keep complaining until you get a bribe of some kind.

Other than that i'd stay again if i was on a budget.

Firstly to be fair it was really cheap. But you get what you pay for. Its on the strip but only just,It takes an hour on the bus each way to get to the main strip area. They overcgarged me 200 dollars on checkout. They checked me out one night by accident and I had to wait 2 hours for security to let me back inot the room. They were really incompetent and rude and you had to queue for ages just to check in on arrival.

There was no tea/coffee or water in the room. Their was good air con though and the room was clean if not very outdated. We were in a smoking lobby which was horrible and took 20 minutes just to get to teh casino. The poker room was very nice though and their was a good atmosphere on the casino floor. Other casinos would have more free drinks / comps etc.
I wouldnt stay here again even for the money.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Stratosphere the last weekend of July and were looking forward to a nicer hotel, we usually stayed at the Lady Luck Downtown Las Vegas, but it's under construction so we thought we could go to a nice hotel instead. We spent $240 for 3 nights because of a special deal, however, were really disappointed about how the way the front desk staff interacts with people staying at their hotel, they were actually making fun of them after visitors walked away - in front of other visitors waiting in line.

We checked in at about 3.30am and because the room was already paid there was no major problem. The only problem was that we had to wait 30 min for our keys to get ready. My bf and I were already tired as we have had a long day and a long drive. Guess what happened when we tried opening our room. Nothing. The keys did not work. We already got lost when trying to find our room, Stratosphere is also under construction and the signage is not really that good. So my bf went back to the front desk and after another 30 min we were able to enter our room.

The facilities are not that bad, they got little stores in the tower. The casino is nice, the restaurants looked nice too. The Courtyard Buffet is not that bad, but there are so many nicer buffets in Las Vegas for less the price and more variety. We went to the Suncoast Buffet which is $2 less per person than the Courtyard and you can chose between Mongolian, Italian, American, Chinese, Japanese (etc.) food.

The coupon book that was given to us was useless after e.g. the coupons for $2 off at the Buffet was only valid Mo-Thurs, from 11am til 3pm. For people staying for the weekend only til Monday morning this is useless.

Regarding the rooms, we thought it is a non-smoking one. The entire floor stinks like smoke and so did the room. The room itself was nothing special, compared to the Lady Luck, the only difference was the color of the blankets.

The valet service was REALLY slow - we waited more than 30 min for our car and it was not check out time or anything.

Overall, my bf and I still enjoyed our stay in Vegas because we only stayed in our room to get some sleep, but we will not consider Stratosphere Hotel anymore - hopefully Lady Luck will reopen next time we want to go to Vegas!

My boyfriend and I stayed here the week of July 20th for a concert we were going to see at another hotel. When we checked in we waitied in line over an hour at 4:30PM on a Thursday! The reason for the long wait was there were at first 3 front desk people. Then two went on break (inspite of the long line) and left the rest of us waiting for one person to check in lots of people. Finally when we got to the front the employee there tells me that the suite I had reserved was just about ready. I asked her if it was a NON-SMOKING room as I requested and she told me that yes it was a non-smoking room but they allow all the guests in the SUITES TO SMOKE! I was upset because it doesn't say that on the website where I booked the room. If I would have known that I would have never stayed there!
And of course when we got to the room it REAKED of smoke! As soon as we opened the door a wave of smoke hit us like a ton of bricks! Okay I like Vegas and I expect there to be smoke in the casinos, which I don't mind, but I like to come back to my room, relax, and get a way from all that smoke from time to time while I'm in Vegas. I also decided to get a suite there 1. Because it was close to the hotel the concert was at and 2. I heard that its the thing to do if you stay at a cheaper type of hotel. The suite there was a supposed to be a bigger room that was non-smoking but that wasn't the case. I immediatly called down to the front desk and they switch us to another suite 30 minutes later. The next suite wasn't as bad but still smelled of smoke. At this point I didn't want to change again and after the hotel front desk told me smoking is allowed in all the suites I figured we'd probably get another smelly room. But to book a big suite for around $200 a night I should get what I want. I mean its not like I booked a cheap $50 buck a night room. In anycase I still had to go buy fabreeze to freshen up the room. So that was the major down side!

The beds were hard as rocks! I could have slept on the floor and gotten a better nights sleep. I felt hard springs every time I turned over. If I hadn't been so tired from going out at night the beds would have bothered me more!
The upside to the room was the air conditioning since it was 110 outside and a cool 70 in our room.

The buffett there is soooo gross! I will never eat there again. There are much better buffets in Vegas and I reccommned you skip this one! The food was tastless and over processed! I suggest the Rio's buffet, The Aladdin's Spice Market Buffet or the Bellagio's buffet if you want to spend more $$ on food. But those are worth it!
We also ate at the Lucky 24 hour cafe and at 2:30 in the morning after some gambling, we were waitng 25 minutes for a waitress to come over when there was hardly anyone in there after we were seated. The food was not bad but not good either.
The slots are pretty good there (I won $200) but the Blackjack dealers always get blackjack, so watch out.

For the concert I wanted to get my hair done, just a blowout and a simple style at the salon at the hotel. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THE RONI JOSEF THE SALON AT THE HOTEL! The stylist made me look like A HIGH SCHOOL PROM QUEEN WITH AN UPDO HAIR STYLE WITH GLITTER AND ALL AND I'M 29 YEARS OLD! He didn't wash my hair like I asked, and he didn't do what I wanted. ALL I WANTED WAS SOMETHING SIMPLE! By the time I was done and everyone asked me if I was going to get married!
It was not hair appropirate for dinner and a concert. I WAS SOOOO EMBARRASSED! Then I come to find out that the owner of the salon RONI JOSEF ( A middle aged Liberace/Elivs wannabe lookalike) did my hair and then charged me $150.00! I would have never paid that for any style when I thought it was only 50.00 and I have short hair! I told them I wouldn't pay it since he didn't do what I wanted! They told me sorry and ended up charging my card anyways! I had to rush over to another salon for them to fix it since the concert was 3 hours away and reservations for dinnerin 2 hours. Lets just say when I walked in the other salon stylists were laughing and snikcker about my crazy hairdo but they totally were able to fix me nicely, THE WAY I WANTED. THANK GOD! Apparently I found out from that salon that Roni Josef is the laughing stock of LAS VEGAS and his salon is a joke! Its in the middle of all the mall shops and they've been sued from unhappy hotel guests and for unsanitary conditions and have countless complaints! I WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOW THAT BEFORE I WENT THERE!

The service workers/housekeeping for the hotel are not bad. I got a top dry cleaned and is was ready exactly when they said it would be. Also we stayed in bed late and they called us to see what time we wanted our room cleaned and they came when they said they would. So that wasn't bad.
The ONLY good thing about the hotel is I DIDN'T LOSE ANY MONEY THERE AND LEFT WITH THE HOTELS CASINO MONEY after I WON ON THEIR SLOTS! Also the bathrooms in the suite were VERY BIG! It had a large jacuzzi tub and large shower with good water pressure!

Overall, if you want to save some money and don't mind your rooms smelling of smoke in a non-smoking room and eating mediocre food at their restaurants, then stay here. If you want to spend more money on a bigger nicer room that doesn't smell of smoke when you request that then, DONOT STAY HERE! I stayed at Manadlay Bay before and in there suites and they have very strict policies about no smoking in non smoking rooms. That hotel DOES NOT TOLERATE it by putting up smoke detectors that signal down to the front desk on the littlest of smoke and will charge you if they find out you smoked in their NON_SMOKING ROOMS. The Statosphere could care less so watch out! I had a great time in Vegas but I wished I had booked my room, eaten, and had my hair done somewhere else! The positive reviews on here MUST BE FROM THE HOTEL ITS SELF TRYING TO MAKE IT LOOK BETTER THAN IT IS OR FROM PEOPLE WHO JUST GOT LUCKY! Another thing, while we were walking out there were sooo many people at the front desk complaining about lots of things that went wrong in the hotel so STAY AT YOU OWN RISK!

My husband and I were married in Las Vegas on April 1st of this year, and we selected the Stratosphere as the site of the reception and as the place we would stay and encourage our guests to stay. The Stratosphere is I think one of the better on-Strip choices a person could make as far as hotel rooms go - clean and comfortable, and reasonably priced. We reserved a block of rooms for our guests to book from, but I found later that a better price for the rooms could be found by booking through travelocity, so that's what my fiance and i did! Although we booked through travelocity, our room had a sitting room with a fridge (perfect for keeping the leis fresh until the wedding), which other friends of ours with a king room did not get, so perhaps we got a little special treatment as the bride and groom. our room was close to an elevator, but we heard no noise nor were we ever bothered by it.

I am particularly pleased to say that our wedding reception was lovely. We booked a dinner buffet that many friends of ours have said later was the best food they have *ever* had at a wedding (including some fancy weddings). Our friends wouldn't be shy about telling us if the food wasn't up to snuff, and it was definitely lovely, much better than the buffet in the stratosphere's restaurant. I was most pleased with the way our party was handled - no pressure, no one ever tried to upsell us (we didn't want a wedding cake or a centerpiece beyond the basics, and they were fine with that). They did make an error by distributing some of our favors to a different wedding reception going on that evening, but in exchange for the loss of our "blow for a kiss" wedding kazoos they provided a complimentary glass of champagne for everyone, as well as an additional bottle and souvenir glasses for the two of us. I might have been more upset if we had bought some overpriced engraved silver doodads as favors, but they were kazoos and I was okay with it. Their reception area is at the top of the tower, and it was simply lovely. So, great food, great view - my complaint would be that 3 hours for the room was shorter than I would have liked but we moved the adults in the party to the "bar at the top of the world" to continue partying and eventually to wind down. Also, despite repeatedly being told that even if fewer than 50 guests arrived, we would be charged for that number as that had been the number confirmed, at the end of the night the rep from the hotel came up to us with the bill and said, "some of your guests did not attend! we won't charge you for those meals." Not charging you for guests who didn't show is pretty unheard of with regards to wedding caterers in general, so I was very surprised, but very pleased and grateful. The strat is a great place to celebrate.
