The four of us stayed at the Stratosphere from July 9th-13th, 2006. First line of business was to upgrade from our $29.99 room to a Casino Suite which was only $50 more per night. The Casino Suite was very spacious, had king size bed, oversized bathroom, separate shower and a jazcuzzi spa tub. Very comfortable accomodations and we all slept like babies each night !
I wouldn't recommend Lucky's Cafe. Their portions are tiny and quite frankly their food is not very good. While staying at Stratosphere I would recommend Islands Paradise Cafe located at the Stardust Hotel Casino. They have monster prime rib dinners for only $7.95 if you use their $2.00 off coupon plus other very delicious menu items. We ate there 2-3 times during our stay. We also ate monster burgers for only $1.99 at the Wild West Hotel just located off the strip on Tropicana. Wild West is a locals casino and not glamorous like the hotels on the strip but their food is very good and cheap !
The pool area at Stratosphere was awesome. The pool attendants during my visit were very friendly and helpful and were actually the highlight of our trip as far as customer service is concerned. The pool itself is big and spacious but way too many kids swimming. The jazcuzzi located pool side is also spacious but again way too many kids. Kudos to the lifeguards for doing their best to keep the kids out of the jazcuzzi. However, it was still annoying and the water salty. We rented the cabana and had unlimited water and soda. So we were able to relax and watch cable TV almost pool side !
The Valet at Stratosphere has to be one of the very best on the strip. They are all very nice, helpful and quick ! Stratosphere is on the very far end of the strip away from Monte Carlo, MGM, Mirage etc. However, we felt very safe and it was never a hassle to drive to the other hotels and valet and walk to other nearby hotels.
Room service was nice. We had a clean room every time we came back. They made sure we did because they would leave message on phone reminding us to call them when we were ready to have our room cleaned !
The casino itself at Stratosphere is small and doesn't offer too many options. However, entertainment rocks at Stratosphere from Bite to American Superstar and the tower and the rides !
You can play $1 black jack at Slots A Fun located next to Circus Circus Hotel albeit they only have one table that seats 7 but once you get a spot its all yours for however long you want !
Anyway, this was my second time staying at the Stratosphere and unless there is a better deal elsewhere I will be staying there again. I will always make sure to get at least the casino suite room.
Stratosphere is a great value and close enough to all the action. Right now, Stratosphere is very very busy and long lines and check-in is almost a guarantee but again they have the best value as far as accomadations are concern and that's why.
Hotel operator on Monday-Tuesday were rude and short with us but the rest of the stay was awesome !
We highly recommend it !
