Stayed at the Stratosphere Hotel enroute for the 'USA Road Trip 2008' that I was doing with friends which started at Las Vegas and was to finish back in Las Vegas two weeks later.

I have previously stayed at the Stratosphere a few years ago so I always knew what to expect - nice hotel, but a bit of a hike to the main part of the Strip.

As it worked out, bad weather in Chicago and missed connecting flights saw us fail to get to Las Vegas for the first night that we had booked at the Stratosphere. We eventually arrived around 9 o'clock the following morning and it was no problem with reception in checking in early and getting a nice room in the Tower (4.11.22) with a view of the Strip.

The room was clean, with linen and towels all clean and a great comfort after 32 hours of travelling. The only negative I would give is that I thought the walls and doors were a bit on the thin side as on a few occassions during the one night I stayed here I was awoken by noisy guests in the corridors. Although I suppose you get that in most Las Vegas Hotel & Casinos?

Overall, a very affordable hotel on the Strip within Las Vegas which offers a large gaming floor if you fancy a quick gamble or a nice relaxing environment after a long day or two of travelling. I would stay here again if I was visiting Vegas for a brief visit, but perhaps four days or more in Vegas at the bottom end of the Strip would get on your nerves with all the walking or getting public transport just to get to the main action.

We stayed at the Stratosphere in Feb 2008. I had read a review on this website before we went and I'm glad I did. On the second night I noticed a bug in the bed and I looked carefully and there were not one but two bed bugs in the bed.
We called to complain and were given an 'executive suite'. no apologies, no comps. The staff was pleasant, but not spectacular, also it was strange that they did not seem the least bit surprised that we found bugs in the room.

We stayed at the Strat, Feb5-9. Booked 2 seperate rooms, and they were both large and clean. The first nites in Vegas we stayed at Bellagio & Flamingo, so yes, we know how to compare rooms. We had no problem booking in @10am, because we upgraded to a Premiere Tower room, w/ spa tub. The tub was great, seats 2 people easily. Our room was cleaned promptly and well by friendly maid staff. The pool area was nice and clean, and although it isn't heated at this time of year, the heated jacuzzi tub was open. There were lots of lounges/towels available for suntanning. The temps were around 65F, but the area was protected by high walls, which keeps alot of the wind out. We ate at both Lucky's cafe and the Garden buffet, which are both ok. (We always rent a car, so we usually drive to South Point for their inexpensive but great buffets.) The casino wasn't as smoky as most, although it wasn't letting us win much on the slots. We find this casino a bit more relaxed and laid back compared to the busier casinos on the strip. As in all the casinos, bottled water is expensive. Note the store on the 2nd level sells water for 95cents a bottle! For some reason they were only using 1 elevator to get up to the top of the tower, so the wait was probably 20minutes. The view was great, and to see the faces of the people on the rides, was priceless!! We stayed at the Strat mostly so we wouldn't have to drive after dancing at their niteclub, Polly Esthers. We got in free before 11pm, because we were hotel guests. Wednesday nite it was almost empty, literally..Only 6 couples there, and by midnite, there was 1 couple left when we left. It was nice to have the whole dance floor to ourselves. Drinks are 5.00pop/water and 10.00booze. Friday nite was really busy, but the DJ wouldn't take any requests. Too bad, cause we finally got sick of the hip hop, rap stuff and left. It was nice that you could wear jeans/casual clothes. We would have stayed longer if the DJ just would have played a bit of rock music in his mix. We will stay at the Strat again, the price is very reasonable for a nice clean room and hotel.

Just got back from las vegas and spent 2 nights here. Check in was a pain. Limited staffing for the amount of people checking in and out.. The room was ok, but I suggest asking for a room that is high up to avoid the constant parking garage noises (ie. car alarms). The beds seemed like hand-me-downs from other hotels and were a little hard. The location is at the north end of the strip, so be prepared to ride the bus a lot. It is fairly close to the old downtown area (Freemount St) and is a short bus ride there. The area in general is a little sketchy but bare in mind the price. We also stayed at Treasure Island (very clean and great beds!!!!) and the Golden Nugget (nice place too). I previously stayed at the Monte Carlo which was also a very nice place.

We went to las Vegas on a quick weekend trip. We did not have to many choices available to us, so we decided to try stratosphere. We had never stayed there before but decided this would be the best time. We were very disappointed from the start.Checking in was a joke, our room was not available, the reservations agent was very rude, and dis-courteous. After we finally made it to the room after a 21/2 hour wait we were disappointed. The room was dirty, old and plain looking. Having stayed at Skylofts this place was a major down-shift. Being American Express Centurion members we are use to a higher level of service this resort has really missed the mark. A waste of time and money.
