This Westin is nothing special compared to some of the others I have stayed in.

However, I got an incredible deal via SPG.com for a room at the last second.

For $99 I could not complain.

The hotel is not on the strip but you are 1 block away it is quite easy to get to Paris, Caesar's or Bellagio.

Unlike many of the resorts this is definitely not a destination in and of itself. I have seen larger casinos on cruise ships and the public facilities are no great shakes.

However if you get a price and are not pushing to boat out for a special occassion I would recommend the Westin.

Free valet parking another bonus.

As for the elevators, it is true that only 2 were working when I was there but the delays did not seem signficant to me.

Another nice thing is the entire hotel (with the exception of the tiny casino and bar) is non smoking.

Given that even some of the toniest places in Vegas can smell like a giant ashtray, this is also a plus.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights over Mother's Day weekend. The room was lovely. We had a late dinner in the hotel's restaurant and it took 45 minutes to get our food and we were 1 of only 3 tables! Got a great night's sleep that night, but the next night at 2:45 in the morning, we awoke to the sound of a barking dog! I called the front desk and they sent security up. They found nothing (the dog stopped for a few minutes by the time he got there) until the 2nd call. They never told us they had put us on a floor (one of 2) that allows dogs in the rooms! They found the owner after calling him on his cell. He argued with them in the hallway. We didn't get back to sleep until after 4AM. The next morning we complained to the manager who offered to change our room but told us the couple were checking out that day, so we stayed. He said that normally they would have charged our room back to that guest, but he couldn't because we used Priceline. No offer to comp our breakfast, or anything. That night at 11:30-surprise-same dog barking! The manager lied straight out to us. We were leaving at 4AM to catch our flight. We went home exhausted. We'll never go back-at any price!

I love this hotel. I travel to Las Vegas frequently for business, and this hotel is my first choice. It is very easy to get in and out, close to the strip and the airport, very comfortable rooms, Starbucks coffee in-room, and excellent room service food.

“Would stay again”

The Westin Casuarina Hotel & Spa

May 17, 2007

Just got back from a 3 night stay. I had stayed at this same property in 1998 when it was the Maxim hotel. I've got to admit that the Heavenly Beds are the most comfortable hotel bed I've experienced. The Heavenly Shower, on the other hand, needs some work - same old tub except with a double shower head. But the peeling paint on the shower ceiling was hard to overlook.

If Westin keeps updating the property, it could be amazing. The location is near perfect and the price from Priceline.com made it a GREAT deal.

Some improvements I'd like to see: the room carpet looks a lot like it did in 1998; the hallways could use some color; nice TVs in the room but I'm surprised they didn't go with flat panel TVs; parking garage elevator needs some work; and most of all, need to somehow vent the steam from the shower.

Didn't try their restaurant or casino. I wouldn't stay for the advertised rate of $159. Half that seems to be the right price point given the location and ammenities.

Stayed here May 11-15. A smaller hotel but has everything you could want including an excellent restaurant, small casino, Starbucks and gift shop with incidentals. Pool is small but we were able to get chairs even on a very busy weekend. Weekdays, no problem. Hotel is right across the street from the monorail station at Bally's and 1-1/2 blocks from the strip (an easy walk). Service staff were all wonderful. Free bottled water, robes and Starbucks coffee in the room were a nice touch. We had no complaints, the price was right and we would stay again.
