Vegas is a lot to take in, plenty of lights and noise. The Westin is a nice hotel just off the strip (but very close!) for a nice quiet restful stay in Vegas after the fast life on the strip.
Visit a casino or 2 (or Ten…), eat in a buffet (the Paris breakfast is not bad). See a show – and go sleep it off in the Westin – just what we needed. We had a view of the strip without the noise, room was big, clean and comfy, stuff friendly, and the sky-train station is just across the street – for visiting the hotels up the strip. There was even Starbucks coffee-maker in the room.

This review is a little late (a year to be exact) but I don't suspect the Hotel has changed much.
We booked the room on Priceline, which lists it as a strip hotel, but it isn't.
The good:
-Clean room with a nice bathroom
-Comfortable bed- The westin heavenly bed with about 100 pillows.
-Nice pool- small, but nice, hot tub area and a bar.
-Starbuck's in the lobby

Subject to interpretation:
-This hotel is either quiet and relaxing or really boring.
-It is either away from the hustle and bustle of the strip or...away from the hustle and bustle of the strip. About a 10 minute walk to Bill's Gamblin' Hall, a couple minutes to Bally's back door. A few minutes to Ellis Island (ask for the steak and eggs special, not on the menu)
-The casino is dead dead dead, honestly 5 people in the Casino at 9 pm on a Friday night. If you don't like to see anyone while you are gambling, I guess this could be a good thing.

It is just a quiet comfy hotel that would be just fine if you are traveling on business or are Mormon, but for a fun time in Las Vegas, you might want to look elsewhere.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We paid $110 per night plus service charges and fees that added up to around $375. Upon leaving, we found a nice note informing us of $50 in extra 'service' charges just for staying there. I found the hotel on Priceline and was in fact offered the price by the hotel directly (as I had bid less). So any and all charges should have been included as it was their price, not mine.
Upon leaving I complained to the manager, who was very rude. I maintained a level tone and avoided inappropriate language in making my complaint but insisted upon a refund. Instead of dealing with the issue, the manager called security and had us escorted out of the hotel - myself, my wife, our two and a half year old son, and our 9 month old baby - really classy on their part and humiliating for us.
Oh, the room - not at all 4 class. This is at best a 3 star hotel, and a 3 star well on its way to a 2 star. I have included photos of the drilled in safe (not very useful) and the shower with a huge brown stain on its way out. The picture of the bathroom is symbolic of the whole room's condition - very worn out and not at all reminiscent of a Westin except if it was a nightmare.

We all know Westin is great for the the bed and etc BUT this hotel charges you a hidden fees unlike other westin Hotel.
When we checkout, we were bill for $15 a day for service fees. When we ask what are the charges for, guess what, those free water in the room, fax usage, pool and steam room usage are the service fees. EVEN IF YOU DID NOT USED IT.
They mandatory charges customers and said its legal.
Most Hotel don;t charge you at all for the free water that they compliment you, never mind those $5.95 bottle water nor the amenites in the hotel.
We are unhappy with these charges and contacted the corporate office, they said the fees was applied to us since we booked it through a 3rd party.
I would AVIOD this hotel. You got tons of other hotel with better service and amenities without charging you extra.
They did not tell you during check in AT ALL. SCAM SCAM SCAM.

I bid $100 through Priceline for 3 rooms, 2 nights. Firstly, BEWARE there is an extra $15 charge per room per night as a "resort fee". The "resort fee" covers the swimming pool and other "services" that are normally included in the room rate. Unabashed ripoff!

Secondly, the hotel was NOISY both nights. I expect some noise in the hallway in Vegas on a weekend, but this was bad. The door does nothing to stop noise from the hallway. If you don't mind getting woke up at 2, 3 and 4am by people returning to their rooms, this is your hotel.

Thirdly, this is NOT a 4 star hotel. At best, it's a 3 star and on the way down. If you've stayed at any other Westin and are expecting this location to be on a par with it, lower your expectations. The rooms are well-appointed but very small and show wear and tear just about everywhere.

Fourth, the hotel is NOT really that close to the strip. If you plan on going to the strip, stay on the strip if at all possible.

Finally, the hotel is VERY dog friendly. This is great if you have a dog with you and bad if your allergic or not a dog person.
