This is a good hotel about 1.5 blocks off the strip. My 2nd stay.

We booked through the hotel website and got what we thought was a fairly competitive rate of US$136 + taxes.

Hotel was clean and staff very professional. Business centre people helpful.

The one word of warning is that they do try and add a $10 + taxes per night 'Resort services' fee to the bill. Anyway, my colleague & I separately called customer services (before we had checked out) and they removed the charges as a courtesy! Thanks to Trip Advisor for brining it to my attention and saving us $60 + tax.

The main reason for staying here was the price (compared with $200++ at the conference hotel) but it is a nice , smaller hotel (when compared with others in Vegas) and the walk up to the strip is really not an issue. I am sure I'll be staying there again.

We stayed at The Westin for one Night June 7. We stayed there because the rooms elsewhere were either sold out or too expensive. We have stayed in Vegas at least 20 times and this was our first time at the Westin. I did priceline name your own price and got the room for $100 ( it was listing for $199). Valet was quick and easy. No line to check in but there were no king rooms available immediately. We checked our bags with the baggage check and went to check out the pool. Our room was ready about 35 minutes later when we went back to check-in.

Pool is very small and it was later in the day so there were a few chairs open. Like most places in Vegas, drinks are overpriced but that is to be expected. It was a pretty laid back pool experience without loud music, a few kids were there but not many.

We didn't gamble in the small casino so i can't comment on that, but it wasn't very crowded for a Saturday night

The room was very nice. Super comfy bed with nice pillows. Nice robe in the closet. Scale in the room with coffee maker and mini bar. Didnt use it, but plenty in it. I love the tea in the room! The water pressure was good, which is important to me. Overall the room was pretty small but fine for 2 people. I dont know if i would want to stay with my kids in the room....too small but pretty nice and very clean! I would stay again for the right price.

Its a short short 5 minute walk to the strip, which isnt a big deal because you walk all day on the strip anyway.

The rest in the hotel...i think it was called suede was very good. We ate their at 4am and the service was slightly slow and we got the food to go.

Check out was super easy.
Oh one thing...there was an extra $10 service charge on our bill at checkout. We didnt ask about it, but was disappointed to see it.

Overall like i said would stay again for no more than about $120/night.

“Very nice hotel off strip”

The Westin Casuarina Hotel & Spa

Jun 9, 2008

I stayed in this hotel about 2 blocks from the strip, near Bally's, and was surprised on how nice the hotel was. The hotel rooms are very luxurious with very comfortable beds. The bathrooms are equally nice, lots of marble and lots of extras. The room even includes a drip coffee pot, something I don't see in most strip hotels.

The down side to the hotel is the casino. It is very small. The good news is it is only two blocks to Bally's, Bill's or Caesars(other side of strip).

“Confused as to why Westin keeps this property”

I'm interested to see what others think of this hotel after I write this review. I stayed here due to a company event at the hotel, and as such, didn't bother reading any reviews in advance like I normally do. The review title indicates my somewhat ambivalent experience at the hotel, including its conference facilities.

The good side - the hotel had all the normal Westin 'Heavenly' amenities - Heavenly Bed, double showerhead, bath products, etc. Land-line Internet was reliable in the rooms. Dinner at Suede, the onsite restaurant was surprisingly good for a hotel restaurant - my colleague was also taken aback (positively) and the size and flavor of the meal. The hotel itself is about 2 blocks from the strip, and the walk is certainly manageable - and you'll save some money for it (room rate was only $89 per night).

Here's the bad, and hence my wondering why Westin keeps this property under this brand name. The rooms were a bit small. Hallway carpeting and wallpaper clearly need some cleaning; same with the elevators. I would almost venture that this has not always been a Westin. Business center prices are OUTRAGEOUS - even for higher end hotels, $1 per printed page is exorbitant and borderline price gauging. Wireless internet in the conference facilities was spotty at best, and conference services costs were again exorbitant. The staff were very courteous as always, but I didn't feel that I was receiving extra-special service given the cost.

Overall - if you're staying for a Vegas weekend - go to a Strip hotel. You can get equally good deals. If you're there for a meeting at the Westin, it won't be a bad stay, but you'll be underwhelmed if you tend to stay at high-end Westins. Try Planet Hollywood - you'll still get the Starwood points and be on the strip.

This hotel smells of smoke as soon as you enter the lobby. I found that very unsettling as signs are posted everywhere that it is a non smoking hotel. Well, the hotel might be non smoking but the casino is loaded with smoke! And, that smoke drifts around! Ugh!

Hotel seems in desperate need of a remodel, although they seem to be doing the best they can. The restuarant, (there is only one of them on the property), "Suede", is decent and priced okay. Room service did not give me a spoon when I ordered the sorbet, kind of hard to eat ice cream with a fork!

The Starbucks on the property was very expensive and the service a little bit rough. The cinnamon roll I ordered was thrown in the bag depositing the icing all over the outside of the bag. The server was very put upon to help me clean up the mess she made.

The "free" newspapers were at my door only sporatically, who knows when you are going to get one?

The front desk did print my boarding pass and deliver it to my room which was a nice touch.
