“absolutely horrible experience at this hotel”

The Westin Casuarina Hotel & Spa

I don't usually write reviews like this, but we had to share our HORRIBLE experience so that others might stay away from this hotel. 9 out of 10 hotel employees were rude and/or unprofessional in our interactions. There are a long list of our complaints: hidden $12/day fee even when booking thru Priceline; wireless internet is an extra $13/day; no movie channels unless you pay extra; carpets dirty & stained; rooms are tiny and need to be updated; "casino" is a joke and even with a lot of people -- they did not open up all tables; valet won't park your car unless you leave it in uncovered parking; long response time by front desk on any number of issues we raised (needed bathrobe, new batteries for smoke alarm, coffee, etc.); food came out lukewarm and service at bar was slow & unprofessional...

We could go on and on but won't... when we came home and discovered we were overcharged, it took me almost a week to try and get a credit, but had to dispute with my bank. Still ongoing. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.

“hidden charges and fees, far from main strip”

The Westin Casuarina Hotel & Spa

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. It is 2-3 star quality, not the 4 star rating it currently has. It is 10-15 walk from the strip although it is classified as "on strip". They charged me $15 taxes and other fees per night at checkout! although the entire trip was prepaid through priceline.com. I have stayed at numerous hotels booked through priceline.com including other Westin resorts without this ridiculous fee.

It's casino area is so small that you will be disappointed. It doesn't even qualify as a casino. Waste of money, save it for one of the other themed hotels on Las Vegas Blvd.

My boyfriend won us a three-night stay at this Westin (formerly the Maxim property) in Las Vegas. This was my first time in Vegas, but not my first time at a Westin...I had heard not to expect much from the hotels in Vegas, but this one exceeded our expectations. The Westin Casuarina is in an ugly setting, and it doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you - give it a try! It is a medium-priced hotel in Vegas with a surprisingly fine interior. Our arrival was very early, so we left our baggage and took off to the Strip, and when we returned ready to relax a bit, our room was still not ready (it was still only 1:00!), which was to be expected. I happen to be a Starwood Preferred Guest member, however, and upon letting the desk rep know this, he bumped us up to a Deluxe room and was able to get us in one very promptly. The room was so comfortable with the signature "Heavenly Bed & Bath" products - indeed the bed was the best part of my week-end. This is an entirely non-smoking property, which is very nice. The small "casino" in the lobby of the hotel was not a nuisance at all, and the restaurants - both the pub and the finer restaurant from which our room-service meal came - were excellent. The prices were no more extravagant than anywhere in Vegas... The housekeeping staff seemed to be always around and eager to please. We were referred to by name as often as possible, and enjoyed going through the lobby and being smiled at and spoken nicely to. My only criticism would be that the common hallways (at least on the 16th floor where we stayed) are always freezing! If I stay again, I will probably ask management to think about regulating the temperature a little more pleasantly in the halls. So give the Westin a try - you'll like it! And as I always say - Don't forget to tip your housekeeping staff!

Just stayed at the Westin Casuarina Hotel and Spa in Las Vegas and was very impressed! Like most people who go to Vegas, originally I wanted one of those luxury hotels right on the center of the strip, but was led to the Westin as an alternative in price. It is on Flamingo Blvd. right behind the Flamingo Hotel and practically across the street from Bally's. I know some people have mentioned that it doesn't live up to the typical Westin standards, but I disagree. While the carpet is a little worn and could be replaced, I found the overall atmosphere of the hotel, including the lobby, bar area, and casino modern with an art deco feeling. The rooms are clean and a good size, including a double shower. And those Heavenly Beds! Nice! The elevators worked fine too. The only thing that was odd was that the hallways where the rooms are were freezing. Otherwise, the room was comfortably heated, and it was cold the weekend we were there. If you're a big gambler, you might not be impressed with the casino because it's pretty small, but the bar is cozy, and there's a Starbucks on sight. Doesn't get better than that. Also, take advantage of the Starwood membership. You can sign up right there at the front desk, and you get special privileges and most importantly get to go to their free happy hour with appetizers, wine, and beer from 5:30-7:30. The staff is amazingly friendly. We had a slight glitch with show tickets that we purchased from the concierge (there was no show for the time we purchased,) but the concierge, Candace, was apologetic and promptly handled the refund. I would absolutely stay there again and recommend it to anyone!

“Las Vegas Westin-a great stay!”

The Westin Casuarina Hotel & Spa

We just came back from Las Vegas after staying at the Westin for two nights. Contrary to what we had read about past stays, the hotel was just great. The location is an easy five minute walk to the strip, across the street from Bally's. The rooms were clean, the bed was magnificent and the showers were fantastic. We would defintely stay here again since the room was such a good value for the money.
(FYI-there were no problems with the elevators or the hot water.)
One thing to keep in mind however-there is no airport shuttle. The airport was a $12.00 cab ride away. All in all a great hotel experience!
