I booked a room for two nights in Dec at $35/night on Harrah's website (hot deals). I've stayed at most of the properties on the strip, but never thought Harrah's seemed upscale enough. I decided to give it a try with that cheap rate and was VERY impressed. Check in was fast, hotel clerk very informative. Rooms not as large as the Bellagio, but for one fifth the price, they were more than adequate. The only gripe I have is there's no safe in the room.
One thing I DID like is that you can get from the parking garage to the hotel lobby and your room without trudging all through the casino like at some other hotels.
Every employee I met at Harrah's was friendly and helpful. The cocktail waitresses came around often in the casino, I never waited for a free drink at the bar, and the floor people were great.
The only meal we had at Harrah's was the breakfast buffet, which was decent but nothing to write home about (LOVE the Paris breakfast buffet...so we took the short walk over there!). Great thing about Harrah's is the central location so you can get just about anywhere else on the strip you want to be.
Overall, I was more than impressed with the quality of my stay for the price and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

As the saying goes........ you get what you pay for. This hotel has very clean and updated rooms. They told me that all rooms are updated every two years and it shows, but they must not change the beds. The beds are very uncomfortable and you can hear alot of hall noise!!!! I must say that the location is very good. If you want a cheap clean room in Vegas this hotel is a good bet.

We had a nice stay at Harrah's 12/4 - 12/7. Quick check-in (and a free room upgrade w/o asking), good service at all eating establishments, bars, and gaming tables. Excellent food & service at Andreotti's restaurant; Very good breakfast buffet 2x at Market Square Buffet. Decent burgers at Garden Cafe. Carnival Court was a blast every night! Live bands, juggling bartenders - a fun way to take a break from gaming & just hang out. Rooms were very clean in Carnival Tower, and after toying with the Heat/AC - quite comfortable. Had a beautiful view too. Could be a bit more soundproof - but heck, it's Vegas, people are out in the hallways day & night. I've stayed in much louder hotel rooms. Fantastic location - next to the Venetian & accross from Ceaser's/Mirage. Free shuttle to the Rio (don't miss the Rio!) I would stay there again, most definitely.
(Just avoid the breakfast buffets next door at Imperial Palace - not very good, but the gaming was fun & relaxed there).

Stayed at Harrahs 11/22-11/26/04 second time this year. I disagree with review that said Garden Cafe was terrible. We ate their a couple of times while service was a little slow we found the food to be very good and personnel friendly. We also felt that the food in the buffet has improved immensely.

On the whole we found that Harrahs Personnel was very cooperative and friendly.

Good and bad: Checking in was a breeze, front desk staff reasonably friendly, bellman VERY nice and helpful with information, great location (fairly easy to walk to Sands Convention Center, the Venetian, etc.), and nice people working in the slots areas.

Bad: The beds were hard as rocks and if you're not careful, you may end up in a room over their bar that has live music until the wee hours. I know this is Vegas, and for some, the nightlife is a big part of the visit, but if you need sleep, watch out! The BIGGER issue is the Garden Cafe, it's HORRIBLE! IF they decide to seat you, you're lucky to get a waiter/waitress. We tried it a few times because of convenience and hoping it was a fluke that it was THAT bad. We would be sat by the hostess, someone would bring the drink order, someone else took the food order, someone else finally brought the luke warm food, someone else brought the bill and the busser reached over my shoulder from the booth behind us to remove my plate, and after we'd already finished and were ready to leave, did they ask us if we wanted a refill on our initial beverages. I will never go there again.
