We took our family to Las Vegas for my son's 21st birthday on Sept. 12th for 4 nights. Got to the hotel about 10:00 pm on a Friday night and walked right up to the counter. We always stay at Harrah's in the Mardi Gras tower facing the pool. However, this time they told us those rooms would be $25 more per night. That was the first time this happened. The only king room available was a handicapped room in the carnival tower, so we took it. It had a good view of the mirage volcano (it was under repair, so it wasn't working). Rooms were clean and comfortable beds. All the others in our party opted for 2 queens (they wanted kings) as these rooms were ready. I just don't understand how rooms aren't ready at 10:00 at night, when they know you're coming. Anyway, spent most of our days at the pool. Some people don't like the pool here, but all you need to do is get wet. We had a great time! Great bartenders at the pool bar! Went to the Carnival Court the first night and had a ball. Also went to Margaritaville, and also had a great time. Gambling was pretty good to us. Came across some wonderful dealers. They were very pleasant. Didn't come home broke! Our whole party ate at Toby Keith's. Dinner was good, but slow. Had breakfast at the buffett, which was also good. My son, who is a mountain biker, went on a 4 hour biking trip to red rock canyon. He said it was harder then he thought it would be, when riding up hill. Also, the weather was fantastic! Not a cloud in the sky and in the upper 90's. Can't wait to go back, probably in the spring.

We booked a room here for one night following a wedding reception. For $300 a night we expected something quite nice. What we got was a run-of-the-mill hotel room in need of maintenance. Our "view" (room 407) was a walled-in rooftop.

Tub had a big chunk of porcelain missing; sink counter had crack in it; sink had no drain stopper; in-room safe did not work; picture above toilet mounted crooked.

None of this would have meant much if we were in a $60 hotel on the outskirts of Las Vegas, but for $300 we feel pretty much ripped off. Oh, and that does NOT include internet access -- add $12/day for that.

Another wonderful stay at Harrahs Las Vegas. This time in the Carnaval tower in room 1827. Very nice clean room. King bed was n/a so I was given a room with 2 queen beds. Table with two chairs was helpful. Closet , tv, and snack minibar are build in to the wall which left more floor space. Regular tv set had lots of cable channels available. Wall safe was handy. Bathroom has a very nice tub shower design ,full amenities, and full stock of towels.
And coffee maker too - the hotel needs to wash the out carafe to remove built up residue on the top cap cover instead of just rinsing it out . Shower head had over 5 settings from heavy massage spray to gentle rain flow. Climate control was easy to use and kept the room at a comfortable level.
Blackout drapes helped keep the hotels exterior flood lights out of the room. The window opened partially of course and the half view I had showed the dormant Mirage volcano (being ungraded), the TI (Treasure Island) at a distance, and to the right the Venetian.
Over all room stay was great. Slot play at the casino was a different story. No wins this time on the Strip. But I did come out ahead at the Orleans ($1800 and $433) and at Fitzgeralds downtown ($900) Happy Gaming !!!!

We stayed for 5 nights September 8-12, 2008. We drove in and parking was fairly plentiful in Harrah's garage which was nice. Check-in was fast and easy. We were told when we reserved the room several months in advance that the luxury room we reserved would have a coffee maker but ours didn't, was kind of disappointed with that. It also promised a strip view...but we did not really have a strip view...well kind of a peekaboo view I guess but not at all what they indicated over the phone. There is a Starbucks located within Harrah's which is nice. Beds were pretty comfortable, room clean. Location of Harrah's is centrally located on the strip and close to many other casinos, and that is a definite plus. Never ever have luck gambling at Harrah's so we do tend to gamble our majority of time elsewhere but still gamble at Harrah's to earn some comps. The comp system at Harrah's is not good as other player clubs. Of all the hotels I've stayed at on the strip over the years, Harrah's is not my favorite in terms of nicest room I've stayed in. However, it is my favorite hotel for it's location on the strip!! I would probably stay here again.

“Disappointing room”

Harrah's Las Vegas Casino & Hotel

The room we booked was described as a "recently refurbished room, with a Harrahs bed and plasma tv". On checking in we were told that the room we had reserved was not available. When we told the person on the desk that we had paid for that specific type of room we were told that they didn't guarantee rooms! The only room that was available was a smoking room which as both of us are non-smokers was not ideal. The only option was to wait a couple of hours for another room to become available. Having travelled all the way from the UK we took the smoking room. The room was awful. The smell of smoke hit us as soon as we walked in the room and the smell was so intense. The decor and curtains had even turned yellow! We had an awful nights sleep as even the pillows smelled of smoke. The shower also was broken and hanging off the stand it was on. After complaining the next morning we were offered a non-smoking room but still not the one we had originally booked. We still had no apology from anyone and had to wait until 6pm to change rooms and move our suitcases ourselves!! The room was a slight improvement, however it was very noisy and we felt like the people in the next room were actually in our room!
On checking out we mentioned the room situation again and were told that the room we originally booked had been taken out for a convention. We were then offered a free breakfast but this was completely pointless as we had to make our way to the airport!
Apart from this the hotel is in a good location on the strip. I wouldn't stay here again though!
