Wife and I stayed at Harrah's Las Vegas 2-27 thru 3-1. This is an ok place but nothing to brag about. I rate it lower than Bally's or Mirage. Bed was comfortable, pillows lousy. Stayed on the 4th floor Canival Tower, motel 6 kind of room, though clean. Loud music from outside till 2:00 a.m.
We didn’t know what to expect from Harrah's Las Vegas, since we’ve never stayed there before. We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is conveniently located in the middle of The Strip and houses one of the Monorail stations. Our room was nice. It was in the Mardi Gras Tower, on a non-smoking floor. Everything in the room was clean and smoke-free. A nice feature was the LG flat screen tv in the bedroom and a tv in the bathroom! Everything in the room worked just fine and when our air conditioner went on the fritz, hotel staffers had a repairman there within minutes of our phone call to them. The bed was comfortable, but not the best. The pillows were a little flat, but then again, not that big of a deal. There was a free safe in the room as well.
We stayed in a room with two double beds facing the closed off pool area and neighboring Imperial Palace Hotel. It was quiet except for the evening when you could hear the live bands playing in the outdoor bar between Harrah’s and the Imperial Palace. It wasn’t too disturbing but if you are a light sleeper, it might bother you.
There are several restaurants in the hotel, but we primarily ate at the Flavors Buffet. Our first experience with the buffet was less than good – the staff seemed overwhelmed by the amount of people at breakfast. The next couple of times we ate dinner at the buffet, we had access to the Diamond & Platinum members seating area. The area is a secluded part of the dining room, just for these members. Dinner was served with one glass of complimentary wine or champagne and the waitress was very attentive to our group’s needs.
We took advantage of signing up for the players card, but don't really know what we got out of it because we didn't play that long and didn't have time to check with the hotel to see if we earned any comps. But from what we hear, the comps are better at this hotel then some of the 'higher end' hotels on the Strip.
We stayed in the Mardi Gras Tower on the top (15th) floor in a nicely-remodeled room with a comfy pillowtop king bed. There was a flat-screen TV in the bathroom!!! The only problem, which we had been warned aboout at check-in, was the Carnaval Bar directly below the tower, which was a bit noisy. But, I recommend this tower for its renovated rooms!
The casino was dreary, with low ceilings. However, it's centrally located on the strip and within walking distance to many of the other casinos, and there's shuttle service to the Rio.
We made two trips to Harrah's Oyster Bar, which is great. Try the Stone Pale Ale, a dozen oysters, and an order of the Peel n' Eat Shrimp!
I highly recommend the Harrah's Mac King Comedy-Magic Show. You can get a free pass for two at the Reservation Desk (which doesn't include a one-drink min. - $12 each!) Great show!
We'd definitely stay here again, as the room was clean and comfortable!
Spent two nights at Harrah's and was very satisfied. First, it's difficult to complain much when you get a $50.00 per night rate plus $25.00 food & beverage credit! At that price I didn't expect much but now feel we received an excellent deal. I asked for a high floor room and was given a room on the 26th floor with a terrific view of the city. My traveling companion asked for adjoining rooms but the best the front desk clerk could do was put us directly across the hall from each other. No problem with that. The front desk clerk was very friendly and accomodating. Check-in was a breeze as was check-out. I do have to mention that housekeeping could be better in the room. There was very noticeable dust on the nightstand. I ran my finger across the clock radio hoping the housekeeper might notice the dust. That didn't happen and the dust was still there the next day after she cleaned the room. The shower could have been a bit cleaner, too, as there were remnants of shampoo or soap on the tub. As I said at the beginning of this review it's difficult to complain about a few small issues. The room in general was in very good condition. The window opened which I really appreciated. We ate breakfast in the buffet both mornings to use the food credit. Harrah's breakfast buffet food selection and quality was very good. The casino was very large and always busy. I didn't have much luck on the slots. Seemed a bit tight, but maybe I wasn't being blessed by Lady Luck this time. Finally, the location is excellent. Walking distance to several of the big hotels. All in all it was a very positive experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Harrah's or to stay there again.
