We stayed here for three days over the Christmas holiday. Our oom was 619 Mardi Gras tower. Front desk gave us exactly what we asked for without the $20 trick--updated room with a safe and close to the elevators. The accomodations here were worth every penny, clean, not too worn, and relatively quiet. Like others have said, you can hear the outdoor bartenders from the room, but it was not overly obtrusive to us.

We did not prefer to gamble in Harrahs, it was very smoky, I think due to the low ceilings. We really enjoyed Toby Keith's I love this bar--way too much good food for reasonable prices.

You really could not ask for a better location, Imperial Palace, Casino Royale, O'Sheas, Mirage, TI, Venetian, and Caesar's were all less than 5 minutes walk.

Later on our trip we stayed at Planet Hollywood, which was way more posh, but then again, we paid more than double the amount. Overall, we were quite satisfied with our stay in Harrahs.

We went back to Vegas in December this time staying at Harrahs's , all went okay until my daughter (22) went to her room at 1:30 am one night. Problem is ste went to the room at 145 the night before. She had her room key to show to security which is required after 9 at night. Securuty stopped her asked her her name & room number, they then had an plan clothed officer ride the elevator up to her floor, even though they had seen her with the family for the past 4 nights. the jset is that since she was not with another invdividual they accuse her of being an professional escort. The head of security was called later he said that is there job. the Front desk was asked for a manager on duty and we were told there is no one on duty at night.
We will not stay at Harrahs in the future.

“3rd time not charm”

Harrah's Las Vegas Casino & Hotel

We have stayed at Harrah's 3 times over the prior two years and felt that the middle of the road pricing was workable for a quick stay as we spend most of our time out of the room. The staff was friendly and quick to assist with check in. Their spa has good help (best massage technician ever-probably why I continue to go back to Harrahs). Convenient access to other amenities, adjacent hotels, shopping and monorail is why we have stayed at Harrahs. Additional good things about Harrahs: a) Toby Keith's- I Love This Bar; b) multiple Starbucks inside the casino c) good monorail access d) decent food e) safe inside the room f) good staff.

However, this time I felt that the condition of the property is becoming an issue where I just don't want to stay until they update. Our hotel bathroom wasn't particularly clean, the sink didn't drain easily, the toilet ran, the flat sheet on the bedding had a hole worn in it, air conditioner wouldn't let you have the automatic fan on to overcome noise from the rock band playing nightly till 2 a.m. from the venue at the base of the carnival tower.

Unfortunately we already have a return trip booked at Harrah's for Superbowl weekend. After that, I'll be booking another property owned by Harrahs, probably the Flamingo or Paris, that appears to be in better condition.

“Middle of the road in the middle of the Strip.”

The best thing about Harrah’s is undoubtedly the location. Well situated in the middle of the strip it’s convenient for just about everywhere.

Check-in was problematic, our room was not ready at the time of arrival and we had to make two additional trips to the front desk and wait several hours before it was. The Staff were apologetic and friendly but the inconvenience spoiled our day and was an unimpressive introduction to the hotel.

When we finally got it, our room was large, adequately furnished and unremarkable in almost every other way. The larger than average bathroom, well supplied with extra towels, soaps and bottles was the only real positive.

Unfortunately, this is a hotel with a serious identity problem. If Harrah’s were a colour it would be beige. Surrounded by bigger and better hotels with well-defined themes and better facilities, Harrah’s just feels dated and out of place.

We got a ridiculously good rate on our stay so were not particularly disappointed at the overall mediocrity of the hotel. Had we paid the additional $200 that others who’d booked later were charged we might not have been quite so forgiving.

If you’re lucky enough to get a promotional rate and don’t consider your hotel to be a crucial part of your Vegas experience then Harrah’s is an acceptable place to stay. If you’re looking for style and creature comforts there are much better alternatives at a similar price.

One final thought. I’ve visited Vegas many times and probably played in every casino on the strip at one time or another, never have I waited as long to see a cocktail waitress. You really could die of thirst if you decide to gamble here.

“MANY "issues" with this hotel”

PROS:
#1.
Excellent location of hotel on the strip.

#2.
Slots looser than some hotels on strip....at least on this trip.

CONS: MAJOR ONES!

#1.
Comped so-called: "Luxury room w/ spectacular view of strip", which were reserved in early November... UNAVAILABLE!!!! ....due to overbooking; on a Wednesday in mid-winter!

Supposed "upgrade" to premium room as a compromise was a complete farce. We were given an unacceptable remodelled "closet-sized" room ("premium" simply meaning a plasma tv vs. analog) with absolutely nothing to look at but another wing of hotel.

Complaint results in complete attitude change of "cheery" check-in gal.... as well as a 3+ hour wait for decent sized room with limited view, but at least acceptable.

#2.
Casino needs a much-improved air ventilation for cigarette smoking. REALLY SMOKEY! If it bothers you, too...try Caesar's or the Rio!

#3.
Tried to dine at casino cafe for breakfast around 7AM on last day. No one in line; cafe less than 1/3 full ...and we are told we must wait until they clean a table. We left after 10 minutes.....

CONCLUSION:

Granted...our rooms were comped and we could have stayed for free at several other Harrah properties in Vegas, but we chose Harrah's Casino and Hotel due to the location.

However, we feel that since we were INVITED to stay and promised a certain type of room, we should have at least received what we were promised.

BUT...the biggest issue of all is the obvious sham they tried to pull on us regarding the supposed "upgrade". As a "seasoned" couple of players to other Vegas hotels, as well as Harrah's wonderful Grand Biloxi in Mississippi, this was a complete slap-in-the-face. Maybe the Harrahs' properties in Vegas should take a few lessons from their southern brothers in humbled post-Katrina Biloxi.
