Harrah's would not be my first choice of places to stay in Vegas, but since the three nights were comped I wasn't going to turn it down.
Our room was located in the Carnival Tower rather than the newly renovated Mardi Gras Tower. The room was clean and without any problems. There were no stains on the carpet and the bathroom was very clean. The room had no odors, but the lighting was a bit dim. The beds are not the greatest. They are standard beds and in looking at the mattresses appeared to be either well kept or fairly new, neither had stains. These beds are not resort quality, but they will do after a long day walking and standing. The water spray on the shower was not the greatest and the pressure fluctuated quite a bit from toilet flushing or other users turning water on and off. The hotel provided the standard face soap, bath soap, combined shampoo and conditioner, body lotion and a shower cap. The room did have a free safe, a mini-bar with very over priced items, and a decent TV. Iron and ironing board included in the closet. The lower portion of the window does open for fresh air. The A/C-furnace does have a motion sensor that will shut off the power to the A/C-furnace when there is no movement detected in the room after a period of time.
Our reservation was for a premium non-smoking room with a king sized bed. However, when we arrived at 4pm, the earliest you are supposed to be able to check-in, we were told that there were no non-smoking king rooms available in the premium section. We were given a choice of going to the Mardi Gras Tower to a king bed in a smoking room. We opted for 2 queen bed, non-smoking room in the Carnival Tower. The check-in clerk was very friendly and did say we could move the next day if we liked. She also said we would be getting a strip room view in the Carnival Tower. We were on the fifth floor. Our view was toward the strip looking out at a concrete wall with a very slight view of the very top of the Harrah's sign located out front of the hotel on the strip. So I guess you could say we had a "Strip" view. However, since our stay was not to hang out in the room, it really didn't matter.
We did not eat at the hotel, but did gamble there. Understanding that you will always encounter smoke in a casino, I usually like to play were the hotel casinos have a good air exchange to minimize the smoke. In my opinion there was either little or no air exchange being maintained in the casino as it always seemed smoky.
The staff in this hotel was very friendly and seemed to want to go out of their way to assist you. The parking garage is somewhat cramped, but we never failed to find a parking space up close to the hotel entrance.
All in all we found this hotel to be adequate and the location can't be beat. You are so close to the Mirage, Venetian, Treasure Island, Flamingo and Caesars Palace. The Strip Tram is just a short walk to the back of the hotel and will take you to the MGM Grand or to the Sahara and all places in between. Just check for tram coupons in the magazines provided in the room for discounts on the tram rides. We did overhear other people checking in at rates of $250 for a Saturday and $200 for a Sunday night. That would be way too much to pay for these types of rooms. If you are going to pay those kinds of prices, stay at the Venetian or the Mirage.
