This review is one of 3 I hope to leave regarding our stay in LA (Sheraton Anaheim)/Las Vegas (Luxor)/Boston (Fairmont Copley Plaza).
The Luxor is a truly lovely hotel we are so pleased we picked it for our stay.
We arrived quite late in the afternoon and only had to queue behind one person.
The check-in lady was very pleasant, however she did not ask us which room we would like but were given a Pyramid Room. I did hear the chap next to us in the queue and he was given the option of Pyramid or Tower Room and that seemed strange.
Still, when we got to our room which was on the 8th floor it was smashing.
We had a view of the Sphinx and the needle, also in the distance were the mountains which were a beautiful burnt orange when the sun rose and the sun set. Also you can see the strip - I was so pleased.
Yes there were some slight signs that the hotel windows leaked, but we had one bad day of rain and nothing got in so it must only happen when they get a real downpour.
The luxor was a really nicer hotel than some of the others, it always seemed much quieter and more secluded than the others.
Yes, the Bellagio and Venetian are more elegant, but the hotels seemed to be swarming with people, always being crowded and did not have that feel of being that comfortable.
In fact I thought that the Venetian was slight overrated.
We loved Caesars Palalce and would be very tempted to try this hotel next time if the Luxor does not pull us back.
Paris looked nice also.
The worst by far for us was the Tropicana, it smelt and look very dingy.
We saw the Folies-Bergere there which was very very good, but took the option of the show and buffet meal deal.
The meal was truly awful. We also felt ill the next day.
The show was worth the money though.
The only 2 minor complaints I have is that if your room is on a lower floor near Neferittis lounge, it could be a little noisy. We could hear the music on the 8th floor. When we put the airconditioning on though you soon could not hear it.
The second complaint is nothing to do with the hotel - its the lady who drove the 301 bus up and down the strip. I bought a daily ticket and did not know how to put this in the machine. She was extremely rude, make a nasty comment and made me look awful in front of people. However, I ignored this in the end and just thought what an ignorant person she was.
It did spoil my morning but in the end chose to ignore such a pathetic person.
Most of the drivers were very nice, however we did not use it after that day, as it took over an hour and 15 mins to get up the strip due to the traffic, it was quicker to walk.
I would recommend this hotel always. The Casino was good. Food was good and it always felt clean, plus it had the option of not being too crowded.
I cant wait to return. See your soon you Egyptian wonder.
