Stayed at luxor 2/14 - 2/19 of 2005 for our honeymoon. The weather was great 60's in. daytime and 50's in evening. Got to hotel around 3:00 in afternoon, only problem was we waited in line for 1 hour to check in. With short lines we wondered what was taking so long, it so happened that every person was asked if they wanted to upgrade to a different room once they checked in. It took forever. Once we got checked in we opted to upgrade to a jacuzzi suite for the week and boy were we glad we did. Nothing felt better then to soak your sore feet on the jets. The room was huge, the bathroom was also huge with a very large glass shower cubicle. The tub overlooked the backside of the strip, but was still a great view. Very clean, we had clean towels and clean rugs everyday. It looks just like in the photos. Very quiet at night. The casino is very big and very nice, all the people working there are very friendly, one lady even held my machine for me while I went to the restroom. Free classes for blackjack, and very easy to get to the excalibur, we had a blast. The inclinator took some getting used to. The buffet is great, tons of desserts. Went to see Midnight Fantasy, it was awesome and affordable, very classy. Didn't get to the pool, but there is a food court on upper level that is open pretty late and easy to get cheap food. Lastly make sure to wear good walking shoes, because you walk everywhere and can get nasty blisters. Also, the tram is not worth it, you walk a mile through the hotels to find the tram entrance and it takes forever to ride it. It is better to either walk to your destination or pay a couple of bucks for a taxi.

Our family of five stayed at the Luxor for five nights in two very large and well apointed Pyramid rooms. This hotel is magnificent and would recommend it to anyone. It is just a short taxi drive from the airpot. I booked directly through the hotel online and paid US$89 plus tax for each room during weekdays. The buffet is probably one of the best in Vegas.
Will definetely use the Luxor agian.

Stayed at the Luxor with my girlfriend for 11 nights in April. We booked our room directly through the Luxor website (which gave us the best price compared to Expedia, Travelocity etc...). We booked a Tower room, having read the reviews on Tripadvisor.

Arrived on the 4th April after an 11 hour flight from London to LA, then a short flight onwards to Vegas. Checked-in and was given a room in the East Tower. On enetering the room, we could see it was not up to standard. The carpets were filthy and looked like they hadn't been vacuumed for a few weeks! There were bits of food still on the floor etc... The bathroom floor was no better. The decor was simply drab and uninspiring.

We complained at the check-in desk and were transferred to another room in the East tower. However, this was no better than the first room we had...!

Went back down to the check-in desk again... We were then told that there were no more rooms available in the towers...! Eventually we were given a room in the pyramid, with a guarantee that the following day we were to be transferred to a tower room. The pyramid room we had was OK, but smaller than we had hoped for.

Come day two, we rang the desk at 11am, to be told that our room was not ready. We rang back at 3pm and again our room was not ready.

When we enquired at 6pm, we were told that the room that had been reserved for us had been given to another guest...! As you can imagine, we were not happy...! We asked to speak to the manager to sort out the problem.

The outcome of our complaint was that we were upgraded (free of charge) for the following 6 days of our stay to a mini suite room in the West tower. At the end of the 6 days, we could either stay in the room for an additional charge of $50 per night, or we could revert back to a standard tower room.

When we entered the mini suite, it was completely different to the awful room we were originally allocated in the East tower. Seperate sitting area, a nice king size bed and great bathroom with walk-in shower and spa...! The room was clean and very spacious. At this point we knew we would have to stump up the extra $50 per night for the rest of our stay...!

A final note to say... if you've booked a tower room at the Luxor, make sure that when you check-in, you request a room in the West tower, as it has been recently renovated. The two East tower rooms we saw were not even up to the quality of a standard motel room.

I was a bit concerned about staying at the Luxor after reading some of the reviews here, but I'm quite glad we did. My husband and I were traveling with another couple and booked standard rooms for our stay. Upon arrival at 11:00 a.m. our bags were kept by the bellman and we were told we could have an early check-in at 1:30. At 1:00 our friends went to the desk and were able to check in early, upgrading to a suite for an additional $40.00 per night...much cheaper than booking it originally would have been. The clerk gave us the same upgrade, on the same floor as our friends. They had a bit better view but we had a nice view of the sphinx and surrounding area and were quite pleased. The bedroom and living rooms were large and clean. The bathroom was great, with double sinks, separate shower and jetted tub. We tipped housekeeping $5 the first day and they left TONS of extra shampoo, soap, etc and gave us great service every day. The room was a bit of a hike, but no more than any other hotel on the strip. They gave us free passes to the King Tut exhibit and a discount in the shops and also free spa passes. We didn't use the spa passes until 4:00 a.m the day we were leaving and next time I'll take better advantage of them...the spa was lovely and the prices were okay. The architecture was amazing, the theme decor very well done and not the least bit tacky. We gambled a bit in the casino and were pleased to find $5 blackjack and craps tables, as we aren't big bettors. We were a bit disapointed that they won't rate you for comps unless you bet a minimum of $10.00 every bet and actually gambled more at the Tropicana, just across the street. The buffet was quite good when we had dinner there, although it isn't the place to go if you just want plain american food.

All in all, the room was great for the price. The hotel was always clean and tidy and the service was superior. The main drawback to the hotel is location, it is a LONG walk to the main part of the strip and we'll probably stay up toward the Aladdin next time, but I'd definately not be adverse to staying at the Luxor again.

for the money, about $125 a night, this place was well worth it...the website really makes it ez to find when the best rates are (hint: not on weekends).
the room itself was in the tower and really nice with a view of the expansive pool, nice period appointments and a great bathroom -- all stone tiled including a stand-alone shower that I've never seen for this kind of money. also a deep-dish bath, too.
the place is jammed but baggage check guys were moving folks in and out quite efficiently.
now for the downsides:
no coffee in the room, and the cup in the lobby is a ripoff $3 or so for 16 oz...the best deal for coffee is in new york, new york, where there's a las vegas coffee co. tropicana smoothie shop -- $1.5o for 20 oz. that was better than the ripoff Luxor's. on the other hand, the drinks at the luxor poolside bar were actually quite reasonable, at $8 incl. tax. for a 16 ounce margarita.
also, the location is a bit far if your destination is the heart of the strip at caesar's...the free monorail between luxor, mandalay and excalibur is pretty much useless, as the stops are confusing (the tram doesn't stop at the luxor going one way, just the other)...
