I recently visited this hotel with my husband and son and found it to be a little tired. When we checked in the receptionist offered us either a tower room or a pyramid room - I opted for the pyramid room and almost as soon as I had made my choice overheard a man in the queue next to me sensibly asking which room was better. He was told the tower rooms were better but by then I felt it was too late to change my mind. Having just read a review on this website from someone given a tower room I definitely made the wrong choice - so if you're asked - go for TOWER as apparently they have just been refurbished. All this said the room was not at all unpleasant - just in need of a bit of a spruce up. As has already been stated on this site - the bathrooms are great and the shower cubicles huge! The Pharoahs feast buffet in the hotel is a must. The food is excellent and so cheap! Even if you stay in a different hotel in Vegas - come here for the buffet! The pool area here is very good and April was a great time to go - it still reached the 80's!

This hotel would be fine if it were not on the strip of las vegas. There are so many amazing places to stay on the strip, and in fact we found every hotel to be better than ours that we looked through! Connected to Mandalay Bay is nice b/c they have a very nice, new hotel with many features you will love- dining, nightlife, shopping, casino.

Luxors casino seems old and run down (even though they just renovated). Pyramid room was ok, but I hated how the window slanted. Found it to be annoying b/c you cannot walk up to teh window to look outside. Don't plan on any good views of the strip from this hotel, its way too far south.

We walked to Treasure Island the first day (took over an hour though!) but its not a bad walk- lots of stuff going on @ the strip. Not a bad location for our first time but will stay mid-strip next time.

Take the frommers book with you if you are going 1st time, it was very helpful so as not to feel lost when you get there. You can def. waste away all your time in the closed in casinos. Get out and walk!

Thanks!

My family of five, two adults, three children stayed here at the Luxor just last week. It was absolutely wonderful. We originally were booked into a pyramid room but seeing as we drove all through the States with three children we thought we'd splurge and try for two connecting rooms. The lady at the front desk (which I walked right up to, it was 9:30 at night and there was NO lineup like I have heard there sometimes is) gave me a couple of choices, two standard rooms in the pyramid with a connecting door or two rooms in the tower, one room was a king suite that connected to a standard two queen bed. Well we took that one after I was re-assured that the kids (and us!) could still try out the 'inclinator' elevators. WOW! those suites are phenomenal. Posh I tell you. The pictures online really don't do it justice, the rooms were huge, the amenites you get are full size and smell wonderful too. It was very very clean, and we got an extremely cheap rate, the manager was right there and helped us out alot on that! we paid just under 190.00 for both rooms alltogether for each night. I looked on the net and the same room, just the suite alone sometimes goes for upwards of 300.00 itself a night! I would not be the slightest bit hesitant to recommend this hotel to anyone. The lady at the front desk did say that the tower rooms were nicer than the pyramid rooms though because the tower (we were in the west tower) rooms had been very recently renovated so maybe they are in better shape, I don't know. I do know that our two, well three rooms if you count the living room were immaculate, and I am very picky. Hope this helps! We did eat at the Pyramid Cafe and the food there was great, but I did find it a bit pricey and they did not have a childrens menu. If you eat there I recommend the Eggs Benedict, I have not had better!

I went to Vegas for the first time recently and WOW! what a GREAT time! We stayed at the Luxor, we had a suite in the main pyramid! What an AWESOME room! We were able to sit in the jacuzzi at night and look out over the whole strip! There was also an extra "reading" room, so when I woke up EARLY (not used to local time) I was able to not only look out over the strip, but also read and relax without disturbing my husband. This is not something a normal room allows, as everything is usually in one big room. The valet parking was fast, efficient and we never had to wait long, although we know the valet drivers did not recognize us, they were always very friendly and we felt like they knew us..... we know not possible! We have also stayed at the Venetian. we stayed in an upgraded suite and although the room was bigger than at the Luxor, it was also about $300 more. We had a GREAT time at the Luxor and recommend it all the time. I also liked the location, and being able to get on the tram or walking.

Very silly check in system with about a dozen receptionists but no queue so you have to choose one and then you can get stuck behind someone taking a long time. There's an interesting view of the interior from the walkways which are outside the room doors but apart from that it's not a very interesting hotel. The inclinators are novel, we were on the 14th floor which has a good view outwards as you'd expect but the room was bland and the windows dont open which made me feel really ill and i didn't sleep very well. Good bathroom though with a big shower cubicle. I much preferred the Venetian although the windows didnt open there either. It is much easier to get out of the Luxor, not like some of them where you have to walk through miles of casino!
