I clicked 'Pyramid Deluxe' and got west tower, check in was a joke, dirty inside the pyramid, pool area looked like a parking lot, dirty room, cracked tile in the bathroom, and a repair on the bedspread 5 inches in diameter. We stayed 3-4 hours and checked out. Another hotel destroyed by the MGM monster. Oh and do not bother to complain, they will look at you and say 'what do expect for $50?'

This was our seconed time to stay at the Luxor. We were pleased with our room and it was clean. The air conditioner could have worked better. We styaed on the 19 floor of the west tower and every time we tried to get ice ,THE ICE MACHINE WAS OUT OF ORDER. I CALLED THE FRONT DESK 5 TIMES TO REPORT IT BEING OUT OF ORDER AND IT NEVER WAS REPAIRED NOR DID ANYONE BOTHER WITH PUTTING AN OUT OF ORDER SIGN ON IT. OUR 7 DAYS STAY WAS GOOD EXCEPT FOR HAVING TO GO TO ANOTHER FLOOR FOR ICE...KIND OF A PAIN.

The More Buffet had good food and most of the servers need to take lessons on being a little more friendly. Esabela was the best server and gave us very friendly service.

we stayed for six days after visiting NY first and were given a free upgrade into the east tower.the room was excellent, large, well cleaned and the corridors were spotless. It was always quiet.you think the casino is large until you visit somewhere like the MGM grand and then realise it is not that large.after a couple of days we opted for the eat as much as you can all day for $29.99 but you have to pay extra for any alcohol.the food was always good and fresh but a bit confusing with the wrist band system until they got it sorted out after a few people complained to them.the only problem with the casino was the smoke as punters are allowed to smoke in there.getting about is easy if you are a good walker but you may be amazed at the distance between each hotel.otherwise catch the free tram from the luxor to the tram station and then the monorail from the MGM which takes you to the north strip for $5 single fare.the strip was heaving with people as there is lots to see,the dancing fountains at the bellagio, the volcano at the mirage, the mock up canals at the venetion.take the opportunity of visiting the grand canyon but be warned it will be hot hot hot.It was 104 when we went so in july and august you can expect it to be another 20 degrees on top of that.At the canyon there can be a huge difference between the top and bottom.we thought it was hot at the top but 4000 feet below it was much hotter.we did the coach trip and had a helicopter ride to the bottom of the canyon and then did the airwalk where the horse shoe shaped structure jutts out 70ft and you walk on glass and you can see 4000 ft below you.they do take everything from you, cameras bags mobile phones so you have to pay for a photo. It is a very long day by coach and you have to change to an old coach to travel to the canyon as for 14miles you travel along an unmade road which is really dusty.on this trip you get to go over hoover dam but this will cease as soon as the by pass is done obviously for security reasons.altogether this trip takes about 12 hours but the first couple are taken up collecting from hotels and stopping in vegas for a danish pastry and a drink (continental breakfast)overall we enjoyed vegas,it takes a couple days to find your bearings but there is plenty to occupy your time.the only negative for us at the hotel was that the tables in the buffet restaurant always seemed to be sticky and the smoke in the casino.

Stayed there three nights and the room floor had not been properly vacuumed when I arrived and never was all the time I was there. The corridor outside didn't fare any better, with chips/crisps lying there for two days.
A couple of the first days towels also smelled a bit musty, but they were OK on later days.
One of the beds in the room had also seen better days with a matress that had pretty well collapsed on one side.
Even if it had been clean, it was still nothing more than an average motel room, and I certainly expected more for what I paid.
The buffet was overpriced but the Pyramid Cafe and T&T were better priced options for breakfast and dinner.
They also fleece you for everthing they can - $15 dollars to use the internet in the room!
Wouldn't go back.

Here's the bottom line for us and our stay at The Luxor. It presents itself like a grand, luxorious, state of the art casino resort. It may have been, when it opened. Not so much now. The rooms are dark and rather small. The elevators were a crapshoot. Sometimes our key would work, sometimes not. Sometimes the lights would go out inside.

The location is not so great. Being on the south strip put you far away from pretty much everything. We suggest renting a car. There's a tram that runs from Mandalay Bay to the Luxor and to The Excalibur, but really, you could walk inside to either one as they are connected.

If you want internet, bring your own computer. They do have a "webtv" type service that is terrible.

The pool is nice and so is the buffet.

We rated it average, because we think it's an average hotel. After our week stay in Las Vegas, we have decided if we go again, we will stay downtown. That is our kind of Vegas.
