Wow...never been to Vegas before and I was blown away by the size of everything. I thought that sine the Luxor had over 6000 or something rooms that they would all be tiny, but it was quite nice. We stayed in the tower portion instead of the pyramid and it was nice. The room was large and clean and the bed was comfortable. The only thing i dont like is the numerous people who are camped out in the lobby trying to get you to buy a time share...was tired of being approached 35 times in one day. Overall, i really liked the hotel and would go back

“same old luxor”

Luxor Las Vegas

we arrived in vegas on the 20 may and stayed 5 nights @ the mirage ( great hotel, see review ) then onto the luxor for 4 nights.
We have stayed at the luxor twice before and didn't think that the upgrading of the rooms made much difference, we paid extra and up-graded to a suite upon check in and thought the room was looking tired although perfectly functional. One thing that doe's annoy us is why can't they put a safe in the room ? how annoying is that !! just to make things worse my wife lost the safety deposit key and we had to wait 11/2 hrs for the locksmith and then had to pay $50 to have the box drilled - nightmare !!

We did enjoy playing here but would only return if the price was right.
I can't remember what the coffee shop was called but the breakfast bagels are to die for, especially after a long night - you all know what im talking about !!!!
To sum up, i still think the luxor is Ok if you have paid the right price ( as with most vegas hotels ) but the rooms are looking tired.
Ive booked into the mandalay bay and the wynn next year so watch this space !!!

“Not what it once was”

Luxor Las Vegas

Just returned from 5 nights at the Luxor and this once great hotel is not what it once was. We declined the upgrade offer at check in so we could stay in the pyramid. The room was just fine other then the badly cracked toilet seat that ended up breaking off compleatly. My friends and I were not in the room much so we were pretty much willing to sleep in shoping carts if we needed to. My major issue with the Luxor is the change of image that it is curently going through. I loved the Luxors egyption theme and everything that had to offer, now you can't walk 5 feet without seeing Criss Angels face plastered on something including the entire west side of the pyramid. We saw Criss Angel walking through Mandalay Place and we couldn't have cared less. All the renovations and the noise that comes with them made it a bad time to be staying in the Luxor, maybe in a few years the Luxor will be back to being a personal favorite but until then you can find me staying at the Wynn.

We stayed at the Luxor at the end of July 2008. Having read the many varying reviews I decided at check in to ask for an upgrade to a tower room instead of going for the pyramid room I had a reservation for. We were allocated a suite on the 20th floor and the room was fantastic with a huge double bed, massive bathroom and panoramic views over the strip.
I didnt get chance to use the pool as it was far to hot but my initial impression was that there didnt seem to be much shade.
We ate the breakfast buffet which was excellent if not a little expensive and we also tried the Asian Fusion restaurant in the hotel. the food was stunning!
Overall I would stay at the Luxor again as its just far enough from the busier part of the strip to get a little peace and quiet after a busy day sightseeing.

“Loved the Luxor - not so keen of Vegas!”

Spent 3 night at the Luxor and thought it was really nice - I was a bit surprised to come home and check other peoples view and find they did not seem so keen. I think it was unique. Our room was in the pyramid and was large enough for our family of four and the beds were a good size. At first I found it really confusing and kept getting lost however when we visited other hotels found the Luxor to be one of the easier to get round! We cannot comment on the pool as we did not use it - our boys aged 12 and 14 were not keen as when we looked there was nobody actually swimming just standing talking to cool down from the 108 degree heat. Renovations did not matter in the slightest - found the rooms to be extremely sound proof. Really liked the hotel, it is right at the beginning of the strip so more quiet - but we liked this. Excellent value.
