Stayed here one night in August 2008.

The structure is amazing and we were very impressed when we arrived. The size of the hotel and the constant flow of people amazed us and we were impressed.

Room on 18th floor was ok and not much more. We had probably expected more and therefore not impressed by the standard of the room eventhough it was big.

Some minor details need to fixed in the bathroom but generally ok. Seemed clean except from some scale (?) in the shower and zink.

Location is great at the end of the strip but remember that the strip is longer then it seems - we were suprised.

The dinner buffet is great - we ate and drank much more then we should have for around 40 - 45 dollar for the two of us.

Great hotel for a few nights but done come expecting luxury rooms - you get what you pay for and the room was extremely cheap (one could actually agrue that we got more then we paid fore).

I had a room in the East Tower, 15th floor, the room was large, clean, and in great shape with very little signs of wear and tear. The bathroom had plenty of marble tile, and a separate shower and bath. The room was quiet, no noise from the neighbors or in the hallway.

The casino area is under construction in the pyramid building and I would avoid rooms in this section if you are trying to sleep during the day. (ask for a tower room)

Overall, the tower rooms are great, front desk service was average, polite but nothing outstanding and the check-in line was about a 15 minute wait at noon time.

We arrived early for check-in and I'd strongly advise you to do the same as check-in lines are LONG. We were 2nd in line and they opened right at 11:30 AM so no prob for us. STAY CLEAR OF THE FOLKS IN SUITS - TIMESHARE VULTURES ARE EVERYWHERE AT THE LUXOR - as they are in other hotels in Vegas. It's a timeshare hell so keep your eyes open and just pass them by - of course unless you want to sit thru a 2 hour lecture and get your "free" (2 for 1 price) tickets to a show. Check out is easy too - you may do so from your room via the TV. Our room was a spa room as I love jacuzzis and the jacuzzi tub was great - deep, comfortable and a view of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and the airport/planes taking off. The room had a living room and 2 TV's and a mini refrig - didn't work - called the office and they promptly sent another one up and installed it while we were out.

The bed???

NOT good. An extra blanket in the closet was very dirty - had spots on it but again, called and they sent up another. This hotel NEEDS to INVEST in GOOD and comfortable mattresses - Luxor Hotel Management - if you're reading this - the time has come to open your purse and buy pillowtop mattresses and for God's sake - buy mattress pads - the bed had a thin blanket covered with a NON-FITTED sheet to "line" the mattress.

For the price for a "spa suite" - I certainly expected a MUCH nicer bed.

Your room phone periodically flashes a red light indicating you have a call - and guess who that call is FROM?

You guessed it - your friendly timeshare salesperson - or a message from the Luxor management - telling your all about a show at the Luxor - or what you can purchase, etc, etc, etc.

My husband noticed the carpet throughout the hotel was in need of replacement - I say "replace the beds"

!!!

After a 3 hour delayed United Airlines flight out of Denver, we arrived around midnight and checked in within 5 minutes. We were given an upgrade to the West tower, which was disappointing because we specifically booked so we could stay in the pyramid, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The room was nice, two double beds, and a large bathroom area with a great garden tub and separate shower. We wanted a king sized bed, but it worked out well because we didn't bother eachother at night when we really needed to sleep. We also got a $25 food credit, which we used at MORE Buffet (separate review), a $10 Starbucks credit, $10 at any of the bars (which we didn't use) and $25 off a spa treatment, again, which I didn't use. I signed up for an MGM Mirage players club card, since the franchise owns half the strip, and got $10 in free play. That was fun! We didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel except to shower off after 104 degree afternoon temperatures, then head out again, and then sleep at night. The beds were either extremely comfortable or we were so tired, we didn't notice that they sucked! I'm sure they were comfortable because I didn't wake up with a neck ache and slept like a rock all of the 3 nights we were there.

The one huge area of disappointment for us was the total transformation of the atrium level. They have totally removed the 3D and 4D rides, which was most of the reason we spent so much time on that end of the strip in the first place. The food court is still up there, and the Fantasy/Carrot Top theater, but they've moved in Bodies: The Exhibit and are making room for the Titanic Exhibit and a sports museum, neither of which we were remotely interested. We saw Fantasy the last time we were in Vegas, and while the performance was good and the dancers are gorgeous and talented, the theater SUCKS. It's hard to enjoy watching half naked girls dance when you're surrounded very closely by total strangers. It's a very uncomfortable environment. And then, there's the jackhammering. We were fortunate enough to not experience that on Saturday or Sunday, but Monday morning, the second you left the tower areas and entered the pyramid, you were assaulted by jackhammering. Here's the blessing in disguise...staying in the tower rooms, we avoided that unpleasantness, which I'm sure echoed clear to Kriss Angel's suite at the top of the pyramid.

The new bar areas look very cool and very trendy, but we didn't visit any of them. The casino was very busy every time we walked through it. Sunday morning at 11am when we left for the strip, there must have been 300 people or better checking in or out, it was totally crazy. It was never slow. We ate at the Pyramid Cafe, which left a lot to be desired. The food was Denny's quality, although the service was good and our wait was short. I had hoped for more.

Over all, I enjoyed my stay at the Luxor, mostly because I got a great nights sleep every night and the room was clean and cool and refreshing to come back to after some of the hottest days of the summer on the strip. We probably won't stay here again, but only because we make a habit not to stay in the same hotel twice. We will continue to stay at MGM Mirage properties though, there are perks....such as showing your room key down at TI to be in the front row at the Sirens shows. Yes, I know it's stupid and cheesy and absurd, but that doesn't stop it from being fun! MGM Mirage knows how to treat their customers, I couldn't fault their customer service at all. Checkout was done via the TV in the room with no problems and Kevin at the Bell desk took our bags and retrieved them quickly when we were ready to head to the airport. GREAT customer service and a good hotel all around.

The exterior looks great, but you will be sorely disappointed by the interior which looks drab, worn and in desperate need of a major overhaul. Our room smelt of damp, caused by a leaking air con unit and the room we were moved to wasn't much better. You could be lost in the casino for weeks before finding your way out and we spent the best part of a couple of days trying to find our way from the room to our car so we could escape. Huge disappointment all round.
