“gloomy place”

stayed at the Luxor from 4th-11th August. Last visited Vegas 18yrs ago so expected some changes but very disappointed at how downmarket some places have become. The Luxor itself is in the middle of building works - very noisy drills prevented conversation at times - and the bedrooms are extremely gloomy and badly lit. Large rooms and very clean but agree with previous comments that sheets too small and room service trays litter the corridors for hours. Clientele very scruffy and a bit 18-20s especially round the pool - not the sort of place to take our granddaughter for her first swim. Quite a sleazy feel to the place with constant recorded phone messages re escort services!!Staff very helpful - about the only plus. Wouldn't stay there again - you get what you pay for.

“Great valuefor money”

Luxor Las Vegas

Aug 14, 2008

There seems to be a theme running through all the reviews here and I have to concur. This is a well located, fairly typical Vegas strip hotel. It is clear that it is 15 years old but regardless it is spotless and the service is as good as anywhere on the strip.
There are few places on this earth that you can sit in the privacy of your own room in a spa bath inside a glass pyramid and watch the sun rise over the mountains surrounding Las Vegas. The pool area is great and you can treat yourself to VIP sun lounging if required.

This was our first time in Vegas so we can't compare the Luxor to any other hotel. We had a great time. We waited in line to check in for about 5 minutes. When we told the lady checking us in that we preferred a room that was quiet she put us in a tower room.

I will admit that the tower rooms were a good walking distance away but well worth it because we stayed 4 nights and never once had a problem sleeping at night. Don't be fooled because it's further down the strip. You can ride The Duece bus for $5.00 a day. The closest place to get on the bus is right across the street. Plus I think the Luxor is smaller than a lot of the other hotels which makes getting in and out much quicker.

“Good value, but dated decor and noisy”

I was on the $59 per night special rate, so this was a good value for a property located on the Strip. The negatives were that the room air conditioning didn't work very well and the decor of the hotel is quite dated (i.e. late 1980s). Be aware that the hotel is under remodel near the "towers" and the lobby, so there is construction noise between 9 am and 5 pm. The noise is loud enough to disturb mid-day napping, and if you're playing the slot machines or dining in the coffee shop it's annoying. Finally, I found it irritating that the Luxor allows people to hound you for timeshares in the lobby near the front door, under the guise of "Hello, can I help you with anything?" The only "help" they want to give you is to steer you to a timeshare!

We stayed here for 3 nights in early August. Whilst the room (Pyramid) was okay, the building site outside was not helpful. It was noisy, smelly and dusty and we were on the 15th floor. I apreciate that changes and updates need to be made, but it would have been nice had we been informed beforehand.

The check in queue was longer than anything I have seen at Disneyland and the walk from the car park is ridiculous.

The pool is very good, with plenty of loungers even for a hotel of this size.

The inclinators were extremely tempremental with one not working for most of our stay.

Whilst it is an okay hotel, there are others at a similar cost, including the Startosphere which is cheaper.
