“A little nicer than the Excalibur”

okay, so this was our first time staying at the Luxor.
It is about two grades better than the Excalibur, and feels like an Excalibur, except with an Egyptian theme.
The hotel/casino is much less smoke-filled than Excalibur.
We checked in on a Sunday morning at the end of June, and yes, as others have stated, there are long check in/out lines. However, they had many people working and there was a staff member facilitating the movement through the line, so it wasn't bad, but still a long wait...typical summer in Vegas...

As usual, the staff who checks you in is hit or miss...the lady who helped us was a hit! She was nice and sincere...she made sure we had the online promotion we booked and answered my questions as a first time guest. She took into consideration my concern about not wanting to be on a low level near the noise of the lobby and current hotel construction...she gave us a standard room near the elevator on the 20th floor off of "inclinator #3" (elevator), which was good for the following reasons:
1. convenient to self-park
2. convenient to spa/pool
3. not too far from front desk/casino, but far enough to avoid excessive noise
3. player's club booth and a starbucks right off the elevator

very important to get a room near the inclinator/elevator as there really is only one per floor....due to the shape of the Luxor's pyramid, that inclinator/elevator sways - freaky....plus, you need to swipe your room key everytime you get in to make it work (or just press your floor really quickly after another person!)

since it has so many rooms, expect a delay if you request extra things from housekeeping...weirdest thing is they don't have any bath mats in bathroom, and when you request one, they send you this tiny rubber thing?? best to use a towel...

the "view" from your room out across to the "interior of the pyramid" to other rooms and the casino floor below is nice...but the novelty of the slanted "pyramid" window wears off after the first night!

Overall, a nicer hotel than the Excalibur, but still similar since they are run by the same people...

If you can stay Sun - Thurs, just about anywhere in Vegas will be more affordable...if you subsribe to their email list, hotels will send you promotions for food, spa, player's club, etc.

Enjoy!
the spa is, again, two steps above the Excalibur's spa...nicer towels...a little more of a variety in the products...more beverages available as you wait...

food court is small and limited....we were supposed to use our food credit at Fusia, but it was closed for no reason? when we told the front desk, they transfered credit to the Pyramid Cafe, a slightly above average place to eat when you don't feel like eating the buffet...the buffet is decent...I prefer breakfast...many options and it's not too expensive...

I received a fabulous rate for my room and when I arrived at check-in I was upgraded to a better room when the person at the desk found out it was my Birthday. I booked a Cabana and the weather was a little gloomy so they allowed me to switch my rental to the next day (without charging more, even though it was Saturday). The service in the Cabana was exceptional, as were the food and drinks I ordered. The pool area is nice and great for people of all ages. The slots were moderately loose and my friends and I had decent luck playing Blackjack. The cocktail waitresses are very friendly and constantly coming by asking if you want a drink. The Lounge was a nice pitstop before we went to the Clubs, but very easily could have been a place we stayed at longer for a more relaxing evening. I did not use the Spa facilities but they seemed to be busy with happy customers. I stayed in the Deluxe rooms. Although the Tower is fun considering the theme of the hotel, the Deluxe rooms are considerably larger than the Pyramid tower rooms. Unless you have kids that want to stay in a Pyramid room, I suggest staying in another tower. My room was very clean and the air conditioning worked great. It had a nice view of the pool as well. The curtains are heavy duty so the light does not come in unless you want it to, which was terrific for sleeping in. I had a great time at the Luxor and would gladly stay here again, especially with all the new additions they have added since I stayed here!

This Las Vegas trip was a gift for my hubbie for is 30 th birthday. He's a poker fan. Unfortunitelly, the poker room was under renovation, but they improvised a few tables else where... not enough. at all times of day except around midnight you could not find a place to sit in.

The check-in was long. the line was about of 100 people at noon.after travelling all day, for us it was 3:00 pm . But we waited aout 40 minutes in line. The receptionnist was very friendly and sweet. we asked for a renovated room in the towers. Our room was great. with view on the strip. great shower by the way.

We ate a few times at the More buffet, wich was fine for our needs.
all week we were not that hungry becaus of the heat and mostly the excitement... :) The pyramid cafe is ok for a quick dinner.

The casino is great. actually i've hit the jack pot in a penny slot machine. 400.00$ with only 5 bucks in the machine. The same morning, with 5$ we won 150$ in the wheel of fortune slot machine. we had a blast in the casino. lots of free drinks. And when you get hand on a waitress, tip her good at least 2$ a drink. and you will be sure she will not forget you!

Luxor is very impressive with his architectural design. the pyramid is great. from the inside and the outside at night.

We would recommend this hotel to everybody who wants to save a little money but still be in a theme hotel.

We had a great time!

We stayed 2 nights with our 2 children at the Luxor. We had a Spa Suite. At the first view the rooms looked nice, but when i opened he door to the bathroom it smelled strange. When i looked in the shower, i saw a lot of mildew. That was disgusting. The furniture looked very used. The hotel has no wireless Internet in the rooms. The rooms need restorations.
The best at the hotel was the buffet and the Pools.
