You get what you pay for. My best friend and I couldn't find a place to stay in Vegas last January due to 2 conventions in town so we HAD to take this. It cost us $15 a night. We should have known then.
We arrived into an area of town so rough that the hostel windows had bars on them. When we were shown to our room, it was a 'double private' room, but that just meant a mattress on the floor in the middle of 4 walls. The doors had no trimming, so although you could lock them, anyone could look straight into the room through the inch gaps. You couldn't open the windows if you wanted- they were painted shut! The bathroom was the worst!! The shower had yet to be installed- it was a hole in the concrete floor, water dials and a shower head. The shower walls were covered with garbage bags that were duct-taped up, and when I went to take a shower- there was no hot water. The sink had hot water though- so I had to get out and finish washing myself in the sink. There was no tile in the bathroom, just a very dirty concrete floor.
It was about 9 blocks behind the Stratosphere so no cab would come out there- we had to walk to the Strat which was very dangerous.
If you HAVE to stay in Vegas- do NOT stay here. I have seen (but not stayed in) the other LV hostel- USA hostels and it is a great deal better if you want the hostel experience. Otherwise, just get over it- cough up the cash and stay somewhere else. It's just not worth it.
