We stopped by the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay on our honeymoon and enjoyed it. Some people who frequent lots of zoos might think it's a bit small, but I found it to be a pretty good size for it being in a hotel. The admission isn't too bad for Vegas, and the tunnels you can walk through and the stingray touching is unique. We didn't use the audio tour stuff, but it's cool that you had the option.

I would suggest that people take their time through here and read and learn a lot from the placards and audio tour, rather than blazing through it looking at everything quickly as many people do in zoos.

We enjoyed our visit to Shark Reef, located @ Mandalay Bay. It is North America’s only predator-based aquarium and exhibit, there were over 2,000 kind of animals at such as sharks, sawfish, giant rays, green sea turtles, piranha, moon jellies and Kimono dragon (our favourite!). It is worth seeing.

My wife and I often visit zoos or aquariums when away so we were looking forward to this attraction after hearing about it. I was thinking that as it was in Vegas it would be on a large scale. How wrong I was.

When entering you’ve given a device to listen to information about each of the exhibits. There are then around 20 exhibits and you listen to the information on each before moving onto the next and so on. The problem was that the exhibits were quite small and some were very close to others so you don’t get a great visual impact.

If you’re interested in listening to all the information then I can understand how it would be more worthwhile. But if you’re not and are expecting some spectacular fish to look at with huge tanks then you’ll be disappointed. We walked round the attraction without listening to much of the information as to be honest we’re interested in hearing much detail about the fish. We were then out of the exit about 10 minutes after entering.

I can understand that we could have got alot more out of the attraction but if you’re not interested in in-depth information and are looking for a purely visual experience then you’ll be disappointed due to small scale and unimpressive nature of most of the exhibits.

This is a nice thing to do on a hot day. Very informative and well done. Variety of sea life and Coral Reef displays. Pihranna's, sharks, jelly fish, crocodiles, kimono dragon (sp?) and cool looking fish that you'd never see on your own. $17/adult, I think $12/child. Photo ops, gift shop. They give you a telephone-like audio unit that you can punch in the # of the exhibit and you'd get the info on it. Pace is your own. I figure the price is worth it as it helps to maintain the fish and their habitat.

This was our first visit to an aquarium where our young girls (9,6,4, and 7 months) would remember because they are older and we had our camera. We have yet to go to seaworld so we can't compare it to it. They loved it. If we go back soon, it will be our first stop.

We had the girls , one mom, and one set of grandparents and only the six year old and the grnadfather used the cell phone speaker the entire time.

Not too crowded at this time of year. However we went about 11:00 and the line to enter was very long (20-30 minute wait). Much longer when we left the place a few hours longer.

Beware that you have to follow the signs and walk a long way to get to it.
