We went to Las Vegas for the first time this past May, and wanted to visit some of the outlying desert. After reading many rave reviews for the guided hike company Hike This! online, we booked a rock scrambling excursion at Red Rock Canyon. We chose a morning hike, hoping to avoid the hottest part of the day.

Around 8 am on a Sunday, Neil (the Hike This! guide) came to pick us up at our hotel on the strip. Not only was he friendly and extremely knowledgeable -- he had brought everything we might need for the experience - backpacks, sunscreen, hats, snacks, water and lunch.

Our time in the canyon was fantastic. We spent several hours climbing up massive rock formations with Neil -- and the time went by so quickly! Breathtaking scenery, an amazing workout, and a real reward when we reached the peak and got a chance to grab a bite, relax, and take in our surroundings. Neil was able to answer all of our questions about the area.
He also brought us to a spot to see pictographs (while we ate our lunch), and to a field of joshua trees to see them up close and personal.

The canyon was beautiful -- the hike itself was the highlight of our trip. I highly recommend treating yourself to a guided excursion with Hike This. Just check out the testimonials on the website if you need more encouragement!

We live in New Jersey and visit Las Vegas at least once a year since 1980. We go through Red Rock Canyon on every trip. The scenery is breathtaking, and it never gets old. I've never been there when the flowers are in bloom, but hopefully one of these days!

We prebooked a guided hike to Red Rock Canyon with Neil Sobelson of Hike This! Las Vegas. We booked 4 tours during our visit to LV and this was definitely the best value by far, especially considering it was a private hike with just my husband and I being guided and entertained throughout the trail by the very personable Neil.

The pace of our hike was determined by us and was discretely monitored and adjusted to our personal expectations and capabilities. We got so much more information than any guide book could give. The mid morning snack at the top of Red Rock Canyon was a privilege to experience. The lunch half way along our second trail was the best we had on any tour, especially the squidgiest of brownies, yum yum.

As the Hike This! web site says 'In your wildest dreams, could you ever imagine being less than 30 minutes from a city of over 1.9 million and experience so much beauty, tranquillity and solitude?'.

The added value of our trip was a CD of excellent professional quality photographs, delivered to our hotel within 24 hours of our hike.

Without hesitation I recommend a guided hike to anyone reasonably fit who can walk a couple of miles (especially those people I saw in LV trailing children up and down a very hot Strip and through casinos. Have a child centred day that you will also thoroughly enjoy and hike with Neil. You will always remember it.

Red Rock Canyon was beautiful! It was well worth the $5 it cost to get in. The 13 mile loop has plenty of places to stop and enjoy the view, along with plenty of hiking trails. Went there for the first time and before I left decided to go back a few days later. If you are in Las Vegas/southern Nevada, be sure to take a day and drive this byway, you won't be disappointed!

My husband and I rented a motorcyle and drove out to the Red Rock Canyon. We stopped at the visitor center, which I must admit, we drove by at first. It's tiny and doesn't look like much from the road, but the plans inside for the NEW center look awesome! The 13 mile scenic drive is great - we stopped many times and took several small hikes. On the Lost Creek hike, we saw a small but tall waterfall and then 7 Big Horn Sheep walking above us! They were young, yet still impressive! We also saw an unfortunate rattle snake in the road who was the victim of a stupid driver. Do these people even drive with their eyes OPEN? We got very sunburned that day, but it was so worth it. Take LOTS and LOTS of water with you - you don't realize how quickly it goes and how much you need it. By all means, visit this area. It's so surreal - like looking at Mars! Highlight of my trip!!
