Went to see the last show at 12 midnight. Stayed at Four Queens and thought we'd like to see what old vegas has to offer.Few people were there at the light show. It was just a big display of colorful animations with sound, that's it! Most of the stuff they showed were cartoons, not impressive. Now that I've known it, I most likely won't be back to see it again. I may bring a first-timer there just for them to experience it, coz I know some people like it. The whole downtown experience was a letdown for me. The hotels are old, run-down,a lot need to be imploded. I felt I wasn't on vacation there. If you are used to staying on the Strip, stay there, there's just no comparison.

“Worth a visit - especially if you are drunk”

We would recommend taking a cab there and back. We are glad we went at least once - one more unusual thing to experience in Vegas. We liked the laid back atmosphere of the area. Great place to get drunk at - drinks are a bit cheaper than the strip (or bring your own) and it is easy to walk around. There were two different street bands and both were good. But it was odd because most of the crowd just stood there watching and not really dancing. Casinos have lots of smoke. We had dinner at Dunken Donuts inside one of the casinos - great breakfast sandwiches at 11 p.m. Quick and affordable. We enjoyed the new Queen show in the sky. If you like Queen then you will want to see this. Fremont is a fun time if you don't want to spend tons of money. P.S. It's not a place for children.

“If you have nothing better to do in Vegas, then go here”

Given all of the positive reviews of Fremont Street, I am providing this review as a public service.

With a slight twinge of reluctance, I am giving a "Terrible" rating to the Fremont Street experience. First, the reasons to go: (1) this is where Vegas started, (2) the casino lights (which you've likely seen before on tv) are kind of cool, and (3) you can dance in the streets to live (cover) bands, if you're into that. There is no other reason to go, and there are many other, better things to do in Vegas. Plus, it's an hour bus ride to and from Fremont Street and the Strip.

One of my travel companions highly recommended the light show. We saw the show, and then we wondered what the fuss was about. The light show is simply a humongous screen that covers the street like a canopy. When it finally came on, the casino lights shut off, which I expected to be neat, but it really wasn't particularly amazing. The show itself was just a video of (clothed) dancing girls, like you'd see in a music video. I would not bring kids here (at least, not at night--not sure about the day). There was a giant video screen with girls taking their tops off, with a censor bar (which said stuff like "shazam!!!" and "whoa!!!" covering their naughty bits). Classy. There were also plenty of strip clubs. The casinos were all very smokey. I had been told that there were lots of shops to explore there, but they were just the same old souvenier shops that you'd find anywhere in Vegas.

If you are interested in the history of Las Vegas and/or really want to see it all, then I'd recommend coming here. Otherwise, I'd avoid it.

Okay, there a few things you should know about Fremont Street before going.

1) Sketchy Area:

I went with 4 people, 2 guys and 2 girls at around 10 PM. Now I can handle myself pretty well, but the others did not feel safe. I admit, it does have a rough feel, but I came to see the older style of Vegas

2) Take A Cab Back:

We took the bus up. My party left on me at around 11 PM. At around 2 PM I took a cab back to The Sahara Monorail station and I was fine, several cabs parked in area. Costs under ten dollars.

The other party took the bus back. They told me later on they had to wait almost an hour and felt a bit unsafe. If only they waited...

3) Decks of Cards:

Don't buy them at the kiosk. He sells em' for $5.00 each. You can get them for about a dollar each at other places on the strip.

4) Light Show:

Amazing experience! Only caught the last one, but it was really cool.

5) The Casino's:

Remember these are what started Vegas so show some respect. Without them, Vegas might not have been as big as it is.

I liked Golden Gate but they only had one roulette table.

Most of the casinos here have an almost carnival feel to them, which I don't mind, but it's not for everyone.

Overall, I wish I stayed longer with my party, and will visit again next time I go. Just make sure you go with people who don't mind stepping into a seeder version of Vegas.

I do not suggest taking small children here, but hey, that's just my opinion.

We visited Freemont Street on our last night in Vegas, it definitley has a different feel to the strip down there but in a positive way. We had to wait a while for the light show to come on but there was plenty to see and do before then. There was a live band playing and a man on a truck playin a piano...random but good. This is also a great place to do your touristy souvenir shopping as it is cheaper than the shops in the casinos.

They also have some of the old neon signs on display down there which are very interesting.

Another Vegas Must Do.
