We really enjoyed our visit to Fremont St... loved all the lights! be sure to get there before midnight as they stop the light show then. We visited the Golden Nugget and played a few games, was all around a great experience. Only downfall would be the hour bus ride taking the Deuce from the strip...

you must see this part of vegas- original vegas.make sure you see the light show as it is fantastic. the street artists are worth watching too especially if he's still there the lad who spray paints pictures.we felt safe there too. well worth a visit.

June 12th -15th 2007, we stayed in the downtown area. There was less people, great entertainment in the streets for free, that was very much worth the cost of a show! It has a cosy, romantic feeling, that puts you into a mellow mood. There are many hotels that give out good gifts if you join their players club. It was
a friendly,pleasant,low cost vacation, with GREAT gambling!!!! We won enough money to pay for the trip!!
The slots were much looser then on the strip. And... DON'T
FORGET... eat at the freemont hotel buffet!! Great food at unbeatable prices!!!! We will definetly be returning!! Also there are busses you can catch if you want to visit the Strip, for those of you who need a little glitter!

I always check out the Freemont Street Experience when in Vegas. The first time I saw it I was blown away - better than anything else in Vegas by a mile - especially the Show which played to Tom Jones/ Elvis/ Frank Sinatra songs.
However, my last experience of the show was very disappointing - the shows were unispiring and one was totally corny and embarrasing.
The downtown area itself is fine - I'm a single female traveller and I never felt unsafe. And it's great that all the casinos are so close to each other. Yes, they're all really dated and abit shabby (except The Golden Nuggett) but they're fun. I would recommend the buffett at the Golden Nuggett, but get there early/late otherwise you will have to queue for ages.
Overall, I would certainly recommend the show for first-timers, but it's disappointing for anyone who saw the original shows.

Ps) In my experience, none of the downtown casinos are 'loose'. The most I ever won was in Ceasers Palace and The Stratosphere.
