My wife and I stayed at the Trump, and with the exception of the room, found the hotel less than the 5 Star rating they boast. Their service is way overrated as their staff simply hasn't learned to pay attention to detail like other 5 Star hotels do.
For starters, let me say I bought the room through Priceline for $120 including fees and taxes, but not including the $14 per night parking fee!! This being said, we had a very difficult time getting checked-in. (Priceline Customer Service, maybe?) We arrived at a little after noon, and they didn't have our room ready, which didn't surprise me. I went on to a meeting and returned a couple hours later about 2:30pm. Nope, they still didn't have my room ready, but I had another errand to run. So I was back in an hour and the room was finally "cleaned", but didn't have the supervisor "seal of approval". Perturbed, I demanded the room and complained to the front desk manager, who defended their actions, saying the hotel check-in time was 3pm and they had delivered their room to me "only 56 minutes late". It is hard for me to believe that a Belagio, or Four Seasons, or Wynn would have allowed me to wait 4 hours for my room. I guess the front desk manager thought his explanation that he delivered the room only 56 minutes late after I had waited 4 hours made sense--it doesn't! He finally offered me a 2pm check out time, which we couldn't use.
Couple that with the fact that we saw couple after couple check in without a problem and go straight upstairs with their key.
Another incident occured when I drove up to the entrance and asked the parking attendant to hold my car since I was only going to be 5 minutes. When I returned to get the car in less than five minutes, they had parked the car. I ended up waiting another 10 minutes for them to find my car and bring it up from the garage. The front entrance was "very slow" at the time, and there was plenty of room to hold the car. (Annoyed again! NO TIP!! ) By the way, this hotel charges for parking, something the other major hotels on the Las Vegas Strip don't do. It's only $14 per day, but I found that another negative.
On a positive note, the room we had was an "Efficiency Unit" and very nice and clean. (The Priceline room overlooked the HVAC units, which really did not bother us since we weren't looking for a beautiful view. None-the-less, it is apparent that Priceline Customers are not treated like other customers at Trump. ) The room comes equipped with a stove, microwave, mini-frig, full set of dishes, utensils, and pots and pans, comfy sitting area, very comfortable bed, "Jacuzzi" tub, separate large shower, and double sink counter. It also has a coffee pot and they furnish the coffee, too. We actually went to the grocery store got some breakfast stuff, which saved us from spending big bucks on breakfasts there. One thing they missed was they did not put a dishwasher in the Efficiency, which makes no sense! The maids have to wash the dirty dishes daily By Hand! The Efficiency has everything else!
The hotel is a "condominium" hotel--the suites are all sold and then Trump just manages the hotel rooms collecting commissions for renting the rooms. Apparently, they have Efficiencies, one bedroom, and 2 bedroom suites.
All in all, if it hadn't been for the quality room, I would have given the hotel a 1 dot rating. We were looking forward to staying at Donald's place but really felt we were Trumped! I got a Priceline deal, but with the parking charge, I felt the deal was no bargain. I respect The Donald as a masterful entrepreneur and CEO, but this hotel needs a lot of work on Customer Service issues. They just don't get the idea--"It's the little things that make a big difference".
