No, its just the initial rate.My total for a rental picking up 9AM on Sat May 7, dropping off 6 PM Tues May 10, which is counted as 4 days, is $97. I looked at Budget and Dollar and they where both over $100.

I see. It seems no matter where you travel, the fees attached to rental cars are crazy!

Alamo did not require a deposit for our rental. WE booked it months ago for our upcoming vacation.

Are the rental companies actually in the airport?

Do not rent from National / Alamo....in LV. Bad service, high fees pushy sales people. Iwill never rent from them again. My fees and taxes in Dec. were as much as some are paying for the car from this thread.

We have rented from Alamo, Hertz, Dollar, & Thrifty and have never put a deposit down on any of them. We always rent from Hertz as my husband's company has a special discount plan with them and we are gold members and the bus from the airport just drops us right off at our car. We never have to stand in line at any counter like we would if we rented from Alamo or any other one. That is one thing we don't like about Alamo as sometimes you stand in line for a long time to get your car. All of the car rentals have a shuttle to take you to their car rental lot where you pick up your car.

My advice would be to take the free shuttle from airport to Mandalay Bay. Then rent from Dollar-you save alot of the extra airport fees and surcharges.

Dollar does provide unlimited free mileage and no charge for the first additional driver.

The entertainment books always have great coupons. I've found that Alamo and Budget are pretty good also.

Alamo does require a debit or credit card, but they do not put a charge on it. Then you can pay cash when you return it. Without one, I found that you have to leave a cash deposit and have employment verification. I also found the best prices are on southwest.com for car deals. I got compact for 4 days for $

64 with taxes.

They( Alamo) told me it is in the terminal and that they will shuttle you to the car. But, haven't gone yet.
