 Stardust Implosion

Well, just thought I would see if anyone has heard the exact date of the implosion. I know its scheduled for sometime in March of this year. I drive by it on the highway everyday... they are removing all the windows for the top floors.

They must have emptied out 10 floors... and its just the bones of the structure up high....

I doubt they could get a demolition permit if asbestos could escape into the atmosphere. In this day and age, they have to safely dispose of that stuff and pass inspection, too. The main (west) tower probably doesn't have much, if any, given that it's a child of the 70s, but the other buildings might.

Wow... certainly a lot to think about.

Las Vegas is changing its form of "Raw"

It just is not as bad a$$ as it used to be...

Im not so sure how I feel about that.

I love the idea of gallerys and art and inspiration and culture.

I grew up down the street from Yale University, and all that has to offer.

Las Vegas is just NOT an historic town and the history it is rich with, is often suppressed. No one likes to talk about the mob, the atomic testing sites, the men that gambled all their winning from working on the Hoover Damn all month ...you dont hear about those things when you think Vegas.

Many peple just think high end shopping and award winning shows and food.

The more they tear down, the more we loose "Vegas"

Meliss

Maybe we should call it "Lost Vegas" ?

I saw this rumor written on the web:

March 12th 2 A.M.

But I'm just passing on a rumor. Maybe - Maybe not.

Gonna miss that place.

Although I am not sure of the exact date, BF tells me that Fireworks by Grucci will be doing fireworks before the implosion. He is supposed to be going too! It's apparently going to be a bit dangerous as the building is basically just a skeleton now and they will be harnessed as the fireworks will be going on the building itself. He's not sure if he wants to do this though, as they will be there a week and it'll be 12 hour work days to get it put together. Who wants to go to Vegas to WORK?? LOL
