 Stardust Implosion

Well, just thought I would see if anyone has heard the exact date of the implosion. I know its scheduled for sometime in March of this year. I drive by it on the highway everyday... they are removing all the windows for the top floors.

They must have emptied out 10 floors... and its just the bones of the structure up high....

ML,

Are you familiar with what the Romans did to the bearers of bad news?

RIP Stardust.

According to vegas4visitors- they have not announced the exact date yet- only mid March and in the middle of the night.

I don't think I could watch the implosion- just too too sad!

lol Dr. I know, I know.

I have a friend of mine from Connecticut trying to plan a trip out here during that time and I am going to be sure and be there. I have missed every implosion... and I think there have been like 13 in 12 years, if I remember correctly. Isnt that something???

This city really has just turned over. Im not sure how I feel about that.

I wonder what is in store now for Downtown... they have big plans for that, next.

And I know what you mean, vp03 it IS sad. Nothing is forever around this way...

I come from New England where I find comfort in old, large, stone buildings. They represent something solid and consistant and appreciated. That same sentiment is not shared out here.

They strip those hotels down and sell everything for scrap including the windows and the wiring. No $ wasted in Vegas!

According to this article everything that is not steel and concrete will be removed. They will try to recycle as much as they can but they also want to keep the debris to a minimum. I saw pictures of it without the windows on another site.

I have been going to Vegas for 15 years and I can't get over the change that has taken place in those years. I have seen at least 13 hotels open since my first trip. I was really surprised at the attitude of people there- if it was over 5-8 years old it was OLD. It is definitely not a very sentimental place.
