you just have to be diligent and check all your sources a few times a day.

kep in mind that sites such as kayak, priceline, etc do not get all the airlines/flughts. currently my next flight is cheaper through the airline than it is on any of the supposed disocunters.

keep checking, book when you see a price you like. i always book through the airline directly - much easier to deal with if the unexpected happens.
