This is listed on Restaurant.com--Is it good? Can you walk from Mandalay Bay? or does the bus on the strip go there? Feedback appreciated? |

It's at the far end of the outlet mall. If you are trying to walk it, forget it A taxi is an option but it will probably cancel out the savings from the restaurant.com certificate, if that's why you want to go there. You could take the Deuce to south terminal and then jump on the 117 bus and do the reverse coming back. Sorry, but that's the best info I can give you.

This is a classic Vegas restaurant which moved into its new digs on Las Vegas Blvd. (about a mile on the other side of the airport from Mandalay Bay) from its long-time location at Eastern and Trop (I think it was) about five years ago. It was family-run over several generations, with great friendliness food, service, nice menu, large portions and live dinner music. It consistently won "Best of Vegas" awards as both a restaurant and quiet place to see old-Vegas celebs. We have eaten there many times since the 70s; and there was no place friendlier or providing a better experience. However, it supposedly has been sold out of the family in the last year or so (since our last repast there) and some contend it has fallen a step down from its prior status, and that there are numerous alternatives on/near the Strip which are now superior. Have not visited on my last several trips, so can't report on most current status...I'm fearful that another favortie old Vegas icon has passed. But would love to here a timely review.

Through strange circumstances, I've eaten at the Bootlegger twice since March. I liked the food - classic Italian offerings, decent prices, nice service. I'm not sure I would make a huge effort to go all the way out there just to eat, but it wasn't a bad meal by any means. There is an old friend of my mother's who performs in the Bootlegger's cabaret act as a marionnette artist (his other act is a Siegfried impersonator!) We've seen two different shows, but the theme is basically old Vegas song and comedy. Last month, saw a decent female impersonator, Kenny Kerr (great costumes, not an outstanding voice). Also saw Freddy Bell, an old 50s crooner who ran with the Rat Pack back in the day. The shows were fun, and no extra charge. If you're in the neighborhood, worth going to, but not the kind of show you'd come to Vegas just to see.
