So I have to return from the garage to the rental desk after completing the damage form at pick-up?

At drop-off when is the car inspected. I can't imagine that they would have staff in the garage.

One slight modification to what vegasguys said. You actually can return the car after hours. There is a drop box for the keys, and they will mail you the receipt.

The hotel desks are a little more laid back, as there is often only one person working. Usually, if you don't have any damage to declare, they just process your paperwork and someone inspects the vehicle later.

I guess you could ask if the person can do it right then. But if you know there is no damage, I also wouldn't lose a lot of sleep over it. Hertz is a reputable company, and I've never had a problem with them accusing me of damaging a vehicle.

Also know, you can pick up at the hotel and drop off at the airport (rental car center), and Hertz does not charge an additional fee for this.

In fact, for my two upcoming reservations, I am saving big money by doing this, as the daily airport fee does not apply if you rent at the hotel.

There is a drop box provided for after hours BUT you cannot get a recipt and a bill printed out. It is not a good way to return a vehicle. If they do not process it before the next days charge kicks in you will get billed for it and then you have to dispute it. Just never use the drop box.

Also know that the lines can get very long early to mid morning as that's when most people are picking up, and there is usually only one person working there.

If you reserve a vehicle for certain hours, and your pick up or return during these hours, you will not have a problem. I can attest to this first-hand. I returned a vehicle from Hertz at The Wynn recently. I dropped the vehicle off shortly before midnight (no-one was scheduled to work until 8 the next morning), and I was chaged the correct amount.

If you book in advance, there is no mystery, it's all spelled out.
