 Clothing?

So here's a completely wacky question for you.

I was taking a look at my wardrobe for my trip to Vegas in August, and noticed something that just simply isn't going to work. My clothing is black. Pretty much all of it. My work clothing is professional - suits and dresses; my leisure clothing is...well...bordering on Goth. It just doesn't get that hot here in the summers, and it's never been an issue for me.

But Vegas? In August? I'm going to melt.

Problem is, I can't seem to find anything that is light-weight and light-colored! So, where do you go to get clothing for your trips to Vegas? Or, should I just plan on being a little toasty?

Thanks!

I'm also going in August, and I also tend to wear darker colored clothes, so I'm starting to shop now for new stuff. If you normally wouldnt wear light colors then I wouldnt spend much money on new clothes. I'm going as cheap as possible, shopping at Target or Kohl's for basics, i.e.-shorts & capris. And mall stores like Forever 21 & Charlotte Russe for $3 tank tops and light tees. I would reccomend doing that since its unlikely you'll be wearing them much after vacation!

Good suggestions and seriously if you won't wear them again after your trip, just go some place really inexpensive (like K-Mart or WalMart) to get colorful t-shirt tops to wear during the day...and white is good for Vegas in August :)

Dont be afraid to go with a color or style you would not typically roll with. It's Vegas baby and these people do'nt know and will never see you again so it gives you a wonderful opportunity to flash! Work it Girl! Also, Macy's and other department stores are having 4th of July sales so you might be able score something a bit nicer than what Walmart or other stores like that might have.

I always go to Vegas in the summer and it is not unusual for the temps to be over 105 or even 110. You are going to be "toasty" no matter what color clothing you wear! Some people bring a sweater with them because they find the casinos, shows and restaurants too cool (I am not one of them).

If you are not going to wear the clothes again- I wouldn't go all out buying the new clothes. Vegas is a very casual town (especially during the summer) so a few pairs of short/capris and a few tees will be fine unless you plan on going to the clubs or expensive restaurants. The stores are all having sales this week-end. Surely, you can find a few casual outfits. Oh- and don't forget a bathing suit.

I don't have a problem because I spend my summers in FL so I have all the clothes I need.

You might find that travel knits are quite comfortable in hot weather. They wick away moisture whereas cotton holds moisture. If you do an internet search for travel knits, also known as slinky knits, you will find a number of places from which to order.

It is surprising that department stores in your are do not have light weight clothing.

We are going in August also, so I went to Macy's for the 4th of July sale today. (I am not in any way connected with the chain, but found great bargains with 50% +addl. 40% off and I had a coupon for addl 15% off. WOW What fun. I find the casinos cold late nite/early morning so I got a great jacket orig. $69.00 for $8.80!! and lots of light colored light weight tops.

Later, grocery shopping at WalMart I noticed I paid less than some of their prices.

Have a great trip. Wear comfortable shoes!! Enjoy!

I went in Aug about 5 years ago - and I practically LIVED in Bermuda's and capri's.

New York & Co has really cute & comfy ones that won't break the bank...they're having a clearance sale now as a matter of fact (you can get on a mailing list and get $30 coupons in your e-mail and in your snail mail).

No doubt you will melt outside in LV during the summer. What I didn't expect is that many of the casinos have the AC cranked up so high that I froze after spending 30 minutes inside. I had to step outside to warm up. :)

I am not really a 'sundress'kind of gal, but....I got a cute one at Wal Mart for $14 that I wore when I did an outdoor craft show a few weeks ago. I am bringing it with me next week.

Also got a pair of cool Bermuda shorts at Penney's for about $12. If you do a search for JC Penney's coupons, there is always one you can print out to save 15%. Its definately worth it!
