Wow, they really struggled a few years ago right after the ownership change, and we were worried about them. And we have been there on a few Monday and Tuesday nights when it's been pretty quiet.
I will talk to my wife and make sure that we include them on our next couple of trips if possible. It's really tough for small businesses in this economy, and they also depend on locals. And we all know the problems of their local economy.
It doesn't surprise me that they pick up your cafare. Definetly a Class Act. Sometimes I actually feel a little guilty using the restaurant.com certificate.
Yes, that was very nice of them to do that since you already had reservations. It is always sad when a restaurant has to cut hours or days because of the economy. I know many people love the restaurant and I would hate to see it go out of business (I am still mourning Andre's downtown!).
funny you should mention that. i tried to get a reservation for this coming tuesday and was told they were closed on tuesdays...so had to book for monday, but we were able to book the limo.
I was in there on a Tuesday night about a month ago and the place was dead as a door nail. I'm not surprised at all. And also, our food was very mediocre at best.
OT but what is the food like?
visiting for a week in july... woth a visit?
UPDATE
we visited the casa di amore on june 29. had the limo pick up, tipped well and dined there.
the poster that said the food was mediocre at best was being kind. the food was awful...actually the worst meal i've ever had while dining out, no exaggeration! our check came to around $60 after using the $25 restaurant.com coupon plus we left a 20% tip. so in all we wasted $102 including limo tip.
dining room service was annoying and so transparent an attempt to garner a larger tip. don't get me wrong, i'm a friendly person. however, pleasant, smiling service would have sufficed; i don't care to have long winded conversations with the waitstaff whilst dining.
if anyone wants the blow by blow of what we ordered, just ask.
sorry, i was really looking forward to this meal and wanted to like this place, expecially after all the great reviews on here...
So is it the economy or the bad meals that has this place closing one night a week now? I just got finished reading (in another thread) how busy Vegas is even though all casino corp stock is way down and the economy is in the tank. What is it in your opinion?
I hope Dianeinnj's meal was an exception. I would hate to think they had gone so far downhill.
The two meals we have eaten there (the last a year ago) were delicious. Now, before, anyone questions the level of our tastebuds, I think over the years I have shown some ability to tell good from bad.
I would love to hear what you ordered that was so bad. We already have plans to eat there but will gladly give up our restaurant.com certificate if it has gotten so bad.

hi
i really wanted to like this place...however
i ordered the veal parmesian w spaghetti side. the veal was pounded thin(not the usual for veal parmesian...yes for picata, no for parmesian... and overcooked, dry and tasteless. it was covered in mozzarella (gobs of it), the kind that is found on not so good pizza. the spaghetti was al dente but sticky (don't know how they managed that one), covered in a red sauce that tasted like tomato paste loaded with basil. this was the worst meal ever.
my husband ordered the special which was rib eye steak with a twice baked potato. his steak was ordered medium rare and came out close to raw (he should have sent it back but didn't). the potato was tiny and inedible...i took a little taste and it was awful. can't imagine how this was prepared to make it taste so bad.
i did order clams oreginata, they were ok, just ok. a little gritty and very small.
in my opinion, this was not worth the trip...even with the "free" limo ride...
Oh man, I was planning to eat there at the end of July. I also ordered the restaurant.com certificate. sigh Okay, to the people that are going before me, please post and let me know if it's worth going or not. Thanks!
