 The Ongoing Wynn/Palazzo/Bellagio Debate

After spending time on these forums and reading various LV travel blogs, I have noticed something. The Wynn, The Palazzo, and The Bellagio are all attempting to attract the same clients, and they are in stiff competition with each other.

They all do not have much of a theme beyond elegance, they all have spectacular dining, they are all massive, they all cost ridiculous amounts of money to build, and they are all some of the more expensive accommodations on the Strip.

And that is why there is not a general consensus on which one is "the best."

When one stays at these properties, he/she seems to gain quite sense of loyalty to one of these properties. I stayed at the Palazzo last summer and fell in love. As some of you may know, I always recommend the Palazzo to others. I love the openness of the entire property, especially the casino, I love the huge rooms, I love the amazing shopping, I love the great food, I love the Player's Club, and most of all, I love the location.

I find the Wynn to be a bit "dark." Some find it beautiful, but I just don't like the dark/ornate feel of the place. Those who like the Wynn say the Palazzo is "cheap looking." Those who like the Bellagio say that it has the best location on the strip.

So, I decided to create this thread to address these issues. I know that we will never find a "winner," but we can post our opinions. If you like any of these properties, say why you do. Better yet, if you have stayed at all three, compare them.

PS - please, not sarcastic remarks like "why would you pay so much $ for a hotel" or "your thread is useless." If you something valuable to say, say it. If you don't, don't. And I realized that this has been discussed before, but I figured a central place was needed to discuss one of the more common questions on this board.

Bridge, I'm really touched.

No, unfortunately, N/R tickets. But we'll be ok. If we get to ORF late we'll just get a hotel - we'll deal.

WE love Williamsburg and spent a great vacation there - our daughter loved it so much she applied (and got accepted!) to W & M - decided at the last minute to go to Berkeley. She wanted to be one of the docents there. Now she has a life making soap and canning pickles anyway - was in her blood.

Anyway, we didn't want to drive from DC so we'll just deal with our decision to fly into ORF. Never even thought of RIC. We'll be fine.

But closer to the time I will tell you our dates (April) and it would be fun to meet :)

Well I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again. Wynn is my favorite by far. Bellagio is nice but I find it crowded and the rooms to be a little small- the service was spot on. I haven't stayed at Palazzo and although I can't say I wouldn't, I would much rather stay at Wynn, Bellagio, Caesars, or even THEhotel. I like modern decor much more than traditional/classic decor which is probably why I prefer Wynn. I also like the unusual look of the Wynn tower itself, it looks like a bronze sculpture...far more interesting than all the cookie cutter Y shaped buildings on the strip.

Man, I thought this post was about Vegas, not the lovely state of Virginia. Bridge, let's get back to the topic, and leave VA out of it.

Amen!

JackandSally - you find the decor of the Wynn to be modern? Interesting...

And, whats the lovely state of NC and The Outer Banks got to do with Vegas? I guess we couldnt keep our beaches a secret forever.

Lets all go back to Vegas!

Wynn - have stayed there

Palazzo - will be staying there in Dec

Bellagio - stayed there too

Once Ive stayed at Palazzo, I can truly give a comparison.

I have also stayed at all three properties, although it has been several years since I stayed at the Bellagio. Personally, I like the rooms at the Palazzo best, along with the service. The casino was a bit quiet for my taste, but I liked the openness, high ceilings, and natural light. Additionally, I felt like all of the staff was courteous, accommodating, and polite.

My stay at the Wynn was fine, but I did not like the decor of the room, and I always feel like the casino area is too dark and cluttered (maybe the trees?).

As far as the Bellagio, I do enjoy the hustle & bustle of the Bellagio's casino, although it can be a bit hectic. I will always love the fountains as my #1 Vegas attraction, however. I don't feel as though I can fairly rate the rooms since it has been so long since I stayed there (right after 9/11). At the time, I thought they were the best thing since sliced bread, but I had only stayed at 2 other Vegas properties prior to going to the Bellagio (Caesars and Mirage), so I had a smaller basis for comparison.

So, for now, my favorite of the 3 mentioned for a hotel stay is the Palazzo. Of course, if you threw in The Signature and TheHotel, it would be a whole 'nother debate! ;)

What about a M&G at Bridge's house?

Someday?

As for this thread:

I'm a Wynn-ophile. As others have said, very hard to describe. Definitely one of those, 'the first time I saw you' feelings.

Can't wait to see what the Encore is like.

Jaco,

The rooms at the Encore look pretty nice. But still small! It looks like they are trying to fit too much in there. Maybe that is why they have all the mirrors, to make it look bigger. ;) And one TV to swivel between the bedroom and living room area? Boo! I can get 3 in my room at the Palazzo!

I think you should stay at the P for your next trip. Just try it! If you get scared you can always go right back to the Wynn next door...

I didn't think the Wynn room was small, but it did have TOO much furniture for a room for two people (king sized bed). IIRC it had a desk and chair, a sofa, a big easy chair, and I think even something else. And a lot of the furniture blocked the great view out of the floor to ceiling windows.

I really like the P/V with the separate living area.

The bottom line with all of these hotels, you really cannot go wrong and it does come down to Personal tastes and personal experiences

i've stayed at the Wynn and the Bellagio and favour the Bellagio. i liked the location a lot lot better.

I also had some bad service experiences at the Wynn (no help at all with my bags when i arrived and huge waits to check in and check out)

Next time i definitely intend to stay at the Palazzo, looked very nice
