 The Ongoing Wynn/Palazzo/Bellagio Debate

After spending time on these forums and reading various LV travel blogs, I have noticed something. The Wynn, The Palazzo, and The Bellagio are all attempting to attract the same clients, and they are in stiff competition with each other.

They all do not have much of a theme beyond elegance, they all have spectacular dining, they are all massive, they all cost ridiculous amounts of money to build, and they are all some of the more expensive accommodations on the Strip.

And that is why there is not a general consensus on which one is "the best."

When one stays at these properties, he/she seems to gain quite sense of loyalty to one of these properties. I stayed at the Palazzo last summer and fell in love. As some of you may know, I always recommend the Palazzo to others. I love the openness of the entire property, especially the casino, I love the huge rooms, I love the amazing shopping, I love the great food, I love the Player's Club, and most of all, I love the location.

I find the Wynn to be a bit "dark." Some find it beautiful, but I just don't like the dark/ornate feel of the place. Those who like the Wynn say the Palazzo is "cheap looking." Those who like the Bellagio say that it has the best location on the strip.

So, I decided to create this thread to address these issues. I know that we will never find a "winner," but we can post our opinions. If you like any of these properties, say why you do. Better yet, if you have stayed at all three, compare them.

PS - please, not sarcastic remarks like "why would you pay so much $ for a hotel" or "your thread is useless." If you something valuable to say, say it. If you don't, don't. And I realized that this has been discussed before, but I figured a central place was needed to discuss one of the more common questions on this board.

I got the impression from your prior post that you felt that this debate was unnecessary. I think it zeroes in on the "big three" and might help someone.

Yes, we did decide to drive straight to VB. We're going to a wedding at the Ramada - my problem was that coming from my small airport of Eugene to the small airport of Norfolk would require two changes, with the ensuing risk of missed connections, etc., and getting to ORF after the car rental agencies had closed.

Can we come stay with you if that happens? We can't ask our friends, because they'll already have a house full of family for the wedding :)

Oh, and just to add...after our (now 3) nights in VB we ARE going to OBX for 2 nights (Hilton Garden Inn Kitty Hawk) then on to Raleigh to visit another friend (who I've known since kindergarten).

Warm - I don't know if your tix can be changed, if so, and you are making 2 connections (YIKES!) see if RIC (Richmond) can work. An hour farther away, but might only require 1 connection - and since you're renting a cr anyway..

not ideal, worth investigating.

what's the closest airport to which you can fly non-stop? DCA, IAD, CHL many have quick flights here.

ORF isn't that small - in our area PHF is the smallest, and my preferred when flying commercial - 10 min from parking lot to gate.

and yes, if williamsburg was convenient you could stay in the guest house - we're not in the states until Grand Illumination week-end, then gone again until the end of February - golfing in Florida & Nevada much better this time of year. As the commercial says "we'll leave the light on..."
