With our economy in the dumps, better deals in Vegas?

I'm not a vulture or anything, and I'd rather not be able to ask this question at all! However, after 9/11, Vegas was offering dirt cheap room rates & offers. Many of my friends, who normally could not have afforded to go, were able to stay at a top-notch Vegas hotel for the first time. Has anyone seen this trend beginning now at all?

One thing I strongly dislike is the advertising of non refundable offers. I guess the purpose is to set a fixed price so you cannot find a cheaper offer. or accept comped rooms in the worst case. Personally, I think will wait till the smoke clears to schedule another trip.

Has anybody received any offers from Palazzo that they can share with friends and family? Wish we could find a better price for our first trip there in November!

( thanks)

We have four nights (Th-Sun) at NYNY for $280, Freeplay and discounts at three of the restaurants....that is the best deal I have ever gotten.

Thank you both for mentioning the Venetian offer. Just have our hearts set on Palazzo. Maybe tomorrow will bring an offer from them. Right now their prices seem way higher than many other hotels- even Venetian.

Almost everyone who reads this and every other LV board is losing sight of the REAL CHANGE. It isn't our offers that matter, because we are not the majority of LV visitors. Yes, our offers are a little better but that doesn't change much.

The fact that I have a reservation at PH in a couple of weeks for $49 per night doesn't really make that much of a difference. After all when I stayed there last year it was $59 per night.

What really matters are the top rates that ANYONE can get in airline packages, directly on the internet, cqalling the hotel, or from their travel agent. Even though most of us (readers on this board) wouldn't pay these rates, they are what make up the bulk of hotel reservations, and are the reason the average daily rate is so high. These rates are DRAMATICALLY LOWER.

All the people that used to spend $189 per night to stay at Mirage or $209 at MB, or even $259 at Bellagio or $299 at Wynn are the ones seeing the real bargains.

The top end rates have gone down more than the discounted offers. And this is pretty much due to the decline in tourism and the affect of the economy.

Well, that's it... I've decided. I'm emptying out what's left of my 401K, getting myself one of those great package deals with cheap room, cheap flight, and then I'm headed for VEGAS! The only question left is do I put my meager, dwindling nest egg down on RED or BLACK?

Checked last week and the exact same room for the exact same date was just over $850. I called up The Flamingo and they switched everything over for me. So Im going in +$400...right?"

Yep, I would look at it as +$400. Nice job!
