I'm not a vulture or anything, and I'd rather not be able to ask this question at all! However, after 9/11, Vegas was offering dirt cheap room rates & offers. Many of my friends, who normally could not have afforded to go, were able to stay at a top-notch Vegas hotel for the first time. Has anyone seen this trend beginning now at all?

Absolutley. I'm constantly getting offers in my emails for places I've never stayed in. Getting a lot of buy 2 get 1. Recently received an offer to the Palazzo or Venetian for $99 and I only played there once on their $10 free play. Bargains are to had almost everywhere.

I have been getting better offers in the last two months than ever before!

I am planning a trip in the spring, so when I can finally decide on where I want to stay I will make reservations directly with the hotel in hopes that I will still be getting these offers then and can switch the reservation someplace else or have the hotel make the new offer available on the reservation.

I am hoping that air fares will go down by then.

If things get real bad in Vegas, I woul expect the casinos to ask he feds for a bail out, excuse me, rescue plan.

Mizz, I got an e-mail from Mirage a couple days ago (I don't play there anymore) & early November to the end of January there are rooms at $44 & $88 on weekends. If you have a MGM/Mirage Players Club, call Casino Marketing & ask for any specials ~ I'll "bet" you win!

Was in and out all day today and the lead story this afternoon was again decreased revenue in LV. This from WLS 890 in Chicago. I guess it will depend on what approach executives decide. Increase Marketing to lure customers with zero guarantees, or stay status quo and ride out this storm. I would assume publicly traded corporations probably will stay status quo. The volatility in the market today to increase expenses with no guarantees is a very risky proposition.

As a business owner when times are tough, and liquidity might be a concern the first cuts are labor, research and development and marketing.

Alan Feldman, the official spokesperson for the MGM-Mirage Group, stated in an article on msnbc.com that rates are down an average of 15% at their resorts. The high-end restaurants are hurting, while the 24 hour cafes and buffets are more crowded than ever, as those who are still going are choosing lower-priced dining options. The fall is typically a slower period, anyway, aside from a few weeks of big conventions. The deals are definitely out there, so it's a great time to go if you have the dough and job security to do so.

Not sure if this is related to the economy or just trying to fill empty rooms but I had booked a GO room at the Flamingo for 5 nights for $1250ish about 3 months ago. Checked last week and the exact same room for the exact same date was just over $850. I called up The Flamingo and they switched everything over for me. So Im going in +$400...right?
