 Southwest Vacations; trustworthy?

Hello All! I wanted to know what the real deal is with Southwest Vacations. I did a search, but much of the information is outdated. I've researched & spent hours cruising every travel site I can think of, and SWV is astronomically cheaper to book my trip through. Literally several hundred dollars cheaper.

ANYWAY, last year I had an *extremely* bad experience with what I thought was a reputable internet booking site (in the top 5 travel sites we all know very well) while trying to book a trip to Mexico, and now I'm SUPER paranoid to trust anyone other than my local AAA agent; she has always gone out of her way to help us.... of coarse, at a price. ;-)

So, the question is, should I book with Southwest Vacations, and trust that we are ACTUALLY getting the hotel, flight, and dates they SAY we are booking?? Point being, do they give you what the computer screen says you're paying for?

Thanks for the help!!

P.S. I read about the seating & boarding pass thing. It's annoying, but I'll deal with it for the price they're offering if they are legit.

I fly SW all the time but I do find it is cheaper to book airfare and hotel separately.

Fantastic! You all are great!

Regarding the Pre Travel Waiver (or PTW); it will totally be worth the cost! Anyone ever had to cancel? Things are *extra* wild at work, and although we want to go on a weekend, it's highly possible, no matter what a huge disappointment it would be, that there's a slight chance that we would have to re-arrange plans. With notice, all be it, maybe not more than a few days.

I was going to look into buying trip insurance, which is something I haven't ever bought before. Considering the situation, it Trip insurance would be worth it (from what I've read on TA). Would the PTW protect me even a little bit? Forgive me, I haven't deciphered all the "including but not limited too-s" (lol) on the SWV Terms & Conditions.... yet. ;-)

We always fly SW... never booked a package / Hotel...with them. But we the love the people and the Airline, we have never had a problem with them. They even still give out snacks... most airlines dont even do that any more.

We say Do it!! =)

Not sure why you would need the waiver if you book separately. Unless things have changed, SWA will credit you the difference with no penalty or credit the whole thing if you have to cancel. You can also cancel the hotel with no penalty in most cases unless you book a deal that doesn't allow cancellation. Regular hotel reservations allow up to 48 hour cancellation.

a1a2kw, I've never used the travelers insurance, best bet is to call SWV directly and ask.

Damama, I believe she was talking about booking a vacation package not separately. Also when you book a package a PTW get's your money credited back to your credit card or however you paid. Without it if you cancel or if prices change you will get credit at Southwest, I'd rather have my money back then credit at SW.
