Lost in the Venetian |
|
I have read several reviews of the Venetian being hard to navigate. Is it laid out poorly or are the reviewers lacking basic common sense?!! |
|
It isn't difficult to find your way around. The Vegas resorts are huge. If you are not paying attention, you can get lost in any of them. Pay a little attention to where you are going and you won't have a problem. The Venetian is a wonderful property. You'll have a blast.

Familiarize yourself with the layout - its really not that bad once you get your directions. It is large however but not as big as the MGM Grand. This website has a map you can print out and review. http://www.venetian.com/corp/map1.cfm Enjoy yourself, its a great place. Good Luck !

Parts of the Venetian are very hard to navigate. For example, the shopping mall on the second floor -- the Grand Canal Shops, I think they call it -- is very confusing. Also, having to take three elevators from the self-parking garage to your room (if you are in the new tower) is a bit confusing. (Yes, three. One from the floor you parked on down to the third floor; another from the third floor to the tenth floor (where there is a passageway to the Bouchon Restaurant); and finally, one to your room floor.) I have stayed at Venetian many times. I rarely spend any time in the Grand Canal Shop area, and I still get lost there.

sounds interesting. | ||||||

We didn't have much of a problem after the first day. I agree that all hotels in Vegas are so large, it is very easy to get lost in any number of them. Not such a big deal really. Once you walk thru a couple of times you'll be fine. The Venetian is wonderful, we loved our stay there.

There is one other reason for knowing "where your at" ie, life safety. Most average buildings, its easy to see where to go should the fire alarm go off. Casinos, wow. Yep there are signs but no one pays attention to the alarms when they go off. I was in the forum shops, some joker pulled an alarm, but no one in the shoppes paid any attention to the blaring fire alarm. If it was a real fire, shame on them. I was also in the Bellagio this Jan when somebody pitched a cigarette butt in the waste can right at the check in desk, just some smoke but none of the desk employees had a clue on what to do. One desk girl was fanning the smoke with a newspaper, like it would "go away". Customers just ignored it. MOral of the story, if you hear the fire alarm, look for a door with exit signs, move toward it until you have some idea what is really going on.

If you are not in the main tower it will take you 10 min. just to get to your room . We found it a bit confusing and that was before drinks .

I stayed at the Venetian just 1 month ago in the Venenzia Tower. I had no problem finding my way around nor did I mind the walk at all. I was expecting the worst after reading this forum. I laughed to myself when I actually got there because it was not bad at all....Really I dont know what people expect or if they just like to complain. I guess everyone has to make that decision on their own once arriving at the hotel! However, I did not find the walk or the hotel layout to be a problem

That's what I thought, Bluiz!!
