BIG THUMBS UP! If you enjoy Monty Python humor you will ike the show. Heck, my mom had never even seen anhything Monty Python and she just saw Spamalot (in Denver) and thought it was hilarious. The Vegas version is great though, John O'Hurley is a fab King Arthus. I laughed non-stop for 90 minutes.

Diva21 wrote this great review on it. Lowrance is a HUGE fan. I enjoyed it and I'm more of a sports type of person--arf, arf. (I'm flexing my muscles as I type). Posted on: 9:00 am, March 12, 2007 by Diva21 I've seen the show twice, but not in Las Vegas. Here is a review of the first night's show from another forum: SPAMALOT – Normally, I would say that seeing Spamalot would have been the highlight of our trip. But, I do think that winning $4000 supercedes the show. However, Spamalot is a very close second as far as pure fun, fun, fun. The entire experience of Spamalot is one of the most enjoyable evenings we have ever spent. It was absolutely hilariously funny from beginning to end. Totally fantastic!! The fun and humor start before even entering the theater. We parked in the Wynn parking garage. The Grail Theater is not far from the garage casino entrance. You just walk by the Ferrari dealership and the live poker room and hang a left and there you are. There are Spamalot posters lining the walls even in the casino before entering the theaters area. Take a minute and read the posters carefully – they are an absolute riot. Not normal show info at all – just tons and tons of fun and jokes. The Grail Theater was specifically designed and furnished for Spamalot. There are pictures of Monty Python cast members and very funny sculptures and drawings and photos lining the hallway leading to the Theater entrance. We got there early enough that we did not have to wait in line in this hallway, but it would be a great spot to have to tarry a while as it is very enjoyable. We entered the Theater and had a wait of about 10 minutes before we could begin seating. The snack bar is called Snackalot and when you leave there are signs admonishing you to Buyalot and also gratefully saying Thanksalot for attending. Our tickets were for the Mezzanine and there was a staircase for us to go up. And I mean a big, long staircase. At most other shows we have attended, when guests need to go to an upper level, there are usually escalators. I think there must have been an elevator to get to the second level, but it was not obvious. This staircase must have been at least 3 stories tall. It was no big deal for us, but there were others who had uncomfortable looks on their faces at the climb. The stage was also designed just for this show. There were clouds affixed to the ceiling and tree trunks at the sides of the stage. I am pretty familiar with Monty Python and their humor. But, I knew Spamalot was a musical and except for Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, I did not know any of the other songs. So, I was concerned that I would not clearly be able to hear all the subtleties and dialog and lyrics. But everything was so acoustically perfect, everyone could hear each bit of dialog and all of the words to each song clear as a bell. Obviously the actors were also superb and everything was perfect. This was the first night of Spamalot and I am so glad that we were able to get tickets to it for our last night in Las Vegas. I truly don’t know when I have ever laughed as hard as I did for the entire 90 minute show. I literally had my sides aching and tears running from my eyes from laughter. It was just spectacular from start to finish. It was so very funny. There were a lot of specific Monty Python references – the question of swallows being able to carry coconuts, the killer rabbit, the knights who say ‘Nih’ and demand shrubbery, Spam, etc. The show opens with a modern day ‘Historian’ explaining a little about what would happen in the play. He mentions the story takes place in England. The first musical number consists of people from Finland doing an act called the ‘Fish Schlapping Song’ which, of course, consists of singing and hitting each other with fish. After a few minutes, the Historian comes out and disgustingly says “ I said ENGLAND not FINLAND’ and the singers dejectedly exit from the stage. And so it goes…..Fantastic casting – King Arthur is played by John O’Hurley who played J. Peterman on Seinfeld. He has the sort of ‘snooty’ voice and attitude that make him perfect in the part. He sings well and does a wonderful job as the King. I am not familiar with the other actors in the play. But, they all were well cast as they have great singing voices and the right fun attitude to carry off their parts. This presentation of Spamalot was tweaked specifically for this Las Vegas run. There are Vegas references like ‘What happens in Camelot, Stays in Camelot’ and when they talk about the Round Table, a roulette wheel descends from the ceiling. Also, if you attend Spamalot, take some time to read the playbill carefully. It is also chocked with very funny info. The section Who’s Who in the Cast has some real gems hidden in it. The show is about their search for the Grail. The location in the theater of the actual Grail was very unexpected and a real hoot. Such fun. The show ends and the cast comes out for their curtain calls. Then, the cast invites the audience to join in singing of Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. The words to the song appear on the clouds at the ceiling of the theater and a little bouncing ball bobbles over each word so we can all join in. And I do believe everyone did join in. What a fantastic evening. Everyone with an ounce of humor in their body should see this play. There were some off color references (it IS Monty Python after all) and some funny songs about gays and Jews. But, it would be a a great evening at the theater for families with teens. Mature kids under 12 might be OK. But for sure teens and above will love this show. I certainly wish it a very, very long run.

BOTH THUMBS UP!!! We saw it in August, and it is fantastic!! I am a huge Monty Python fan, but even my mom who had never seen any Monty Python laughed as hard as I did and really liked it!!!!

thumbs up, however, i did not laugh nonstop for 90 minutes. at times it seems they are really struggling to get a laugh out of the audience. (which didn't happen sometimes.) however, great singing, acting. the theatre on saturday night might have been 1/3 full. but please note hurley was not there performing.

I laughed so hard I cried.......I saw in in NYC prior to Vegas and watched the MP's Holy Grail prior to seeing it on Broadway (not required, but it helps catch the quick witted humor that may be missed). Spam, spam, spam....... is a must see!!!

See it at the Wynn or you'll miss routines like these: We're Knights of the Round Table, We dance when ere we're able, We do routines and chorus scenes With footwork impeccable. We dine well here in Camelot, We eat ham and jam and spam a lot. We're Knights of the Round Table, Our show are formidable, But many times, we're given rhymes That are quite unsingable. We're Opera mad in Camelot, We sing from the diaphragm a looooooot. In war we're tough and able, Quite indefatigable, Between our quests we sequin vests, And impersonate Clark Gable. It's a busy life in Camelot, I have to push the pram a lot.
