Hey everyone...

Leaving for Vegas next Monday (Sept 3) and I have no idea which show to watch. My husband and I have never been to Vegas so this is our first experience. We are staying at the MGM for 3 nights..

I would love to see 2 but with limited time, I think it is best to see only 1 so we can enjoy the Vegas strip action..

I am trying to decide between Cirque (O), David Cooperfield & Phantom of the Opera. I am having problems finding tickets for our date for O, but either way what would be your preference of show??

Please help...

Thx

Since you've never been to Vegas and are having a hard time with O tix, I would suggest trying to see Mystere. It's the perfect experience for a first time Cirque de Soleil show, and you might have an easier time getting last minute tickets. Phantom has also been getting good reviews on this forum. Since i'ts your first trip and only 3 nights, I think even seeing just one show would be a great way to introduce you to Las Vegas entertainment.

Have a great trip!!

I would skip Copperfield and see him when he comes to your town. Mystere, as previously suggested, is a good show to start with, don't let the lower prices convince you that it is an inferior show.

Either O or Phantom would be my recommendation. Copperfield isn't my cup of tea but hey who knows maybe you'd like him.

If you can't get tickets for O, then you should be able to get Phantom tickets. And if you use the code "oneyear" and purchase before the end of this month, you get $40 each ticket in the Orchestra or Golden Circle sections.

If you've seen Phantom of the Opera elsewhere, this version is different in some ways. There are more special effects and it's a little shorter but in my opinion it's one of the best productions of Phantom and has a strong cast.

Whichever you pick, you'll have a great time.

Hi guys, thank you so much for your opinions..

I really really wanted to see Mystere but unfortunately it starts Sept 8 in September, and I won't be there anymore...and KA did not interest me for some reason..

I am wondering for David Cooperfield if you get seats in the back...is it really worth it? Do you see anything?

As for Phantom, does anyone know around what area the chandelier drops? I guess anywhere around there would be the best seats?

Thx again..

Unlike the original stage production, the chandelier in Vegas doesn't drop on the front section.

It is about eight times larger than the original chandelier and covers a large section of seats. The centre of where it drops is row P which is quite a ways back.

I would see O or a Cirque related show. I have seen David Copperfield, and really loved the show, but it was in Detroit and I was in row 3. I would never go to a magic show and sit near the back (just personal preference). And Phantom I saw in Detroit and loved as well, but if I am in Vegas, I want to see stuff I can only see in Vegas, you know?

Thank you for all your suggestions..

Cirque does come to Montreal pretty often so I am not worried about not seeing it...I can't find decent tickets at a cirque show that I would like to see in Vegas...so I guess it will be between Phantom & David Cooperfield...

Though I think I am leaning towards the Phantom..:)

Which ever you choose I hope you'll tell us what you think of the show when you're back. It's always fun to hear people's thoughts on shows.

If you choose Phantom, here's a tip that might save you money.

Unless you have a particular seat that you want... If you like sitting up front, choose the aisle seats of the orchestra section that are next to the Golden Circle section. They're just as good and with the $40 discount are $75 instead of $110 for Golden Circle.

well if you want to see phantom, the code oneyear will give you 40 usd off the top two tiered tickets so you could sit in the orchestra row AA for $75 with the $40 off. Code is good until Aug. 31, 2007. Code can be used online and when calling to book a reservation. GL and have fun!!
