Booking through hotel.com was a breeze. The El Cortez is situated a block from the Fremont Street Experience which means it is quieter and less frenetic. I stayed at a Vintage Room which has the cheapest rate. Sure, you have to lug your bags up a short flight of stairs but the room is big (2 queen size beds) and... more

I am currently staying here, july 31 08, I made a BIG mistake and booked a 10 day stay. The first two nights i stayed in the older section in which the doors open to the outside. This is noise central, or cell block 5. The first night and second night both I was kept awake by fighting etc in... more

I have stayed at El Cortez before, with no problems whatsoever - and gave them a favorable review at the time; BUT my stay last week will be my last. First, the good things: the room was clean again; the staff were courteous; the bellstaff and valets were particularly helpful when my shuttle back to the airport failed to show... more

Readers, I spent four nights at the "ElCo", from 22-25 June 2008. I used the "Buy 1 night, get one night free" coupon from the American Casino Guide, for a Sunday arrival. I reserved a Vintage room for these four nights, because the telephone clerk told me that I could add Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the "Casino Rate" ($22... more

We stayed at the El Cortez from June19 thru 22. We had a tower room, upon check in I had asked for a corner room, but they had none available. We requested a roll away bed because my daughter had a slight mishap and sparined her ankle, so the bed was free of charge, they also provided a wheelchair , but... more

Me and my sister stayed at the El Cortez for a few nights in March this year. Overall the hotel was ok, just what you would expect for the price you pay. The rooms are spacious and clean. Ours had lovely views of the hills. Only downside was that there was no hairdryer and we had a room close to... more

My husband & I booked a week's stay at the El Cortez, just a block from the Fremont Street experience. I was skeptical about staying in downtown Vegas, but I can honestly say I had no reason for doubts. From the bell service as soon as we arrived, through our last day's checkout, we were treated like old friends &... more

We went to Vegas last week and stayed at the MGM...but I also booked a room at the El Cortez for $30 one night/free the next for a "Vintage Room" because I figured if we wanted to hang out downtown...a $30 room for 2 nights was cheaper than a DUI driving back to the strip! We arrived early and they... more

This Hotel was great. It is away from the strip but a short bus ride to the strip. Everything is cheap down here so it saves you a ton of cash. When we arrived at the hotel to check in they gave us a free 2night stay if we returned next month and a room up grade!!! Take we only... more

The El Cortez is one of the best kept secrets on Freemont Street. I booked a tower room for $57/night on the weekend. The strip places are way overpriced on weekends, plus there is a lot to see downtown. The El Cortez attracts a lot of locals, which is always a good sign. The casino is friendly and easy to... more
