The Atomic Testing Museum has been around for just a few years. It is affiliated with the Smithsonian (but, unlike most Smithsonian museums, is not free of charge). Our son is a history buff, like me, and the two of us were very interested to see this. Although it was more interesting for adults, our children, 10 and 14, also... more

I'm a science fan and have been to museums around the world. This one really surprised me in both the materials and quality. Apparently Senator Harry Reid (NV) has been getting some big earmarks for this museum. I really enjoyed the models of nuclear weapons that I've never seen elsewhere - howitzer rounds, ramjets. I learned about how they tested... more

Initially I didn't plan to go to the Atomic Testing Museum, however, because I got a 3 day power pass for the attractions (in this case I get free admission), so, I gave it a try. And it turns out to be the most educational experience I had during my trip. The museum itself is not very large in terms... more

The Atomic Testing Museum is a museum dedicated to the history of the development and testing of the atomic bomb and other nuclear weaponry. The whole tour could be done in an hour or less. My overall impression was that it was an incomplete picture of the development and use of the atomic bomb and I personally did not think... more

I thought this was a nice museum. It had tons of information on the subject. There was everything from literature from the era to videos of the testings which you got to watch in a kind of recreation of a bomb shelter. There was lots of very cool artifacts too. It is a self guided tour that you can go... more

A recent visit to the atomic museum was interesting but just seems to be missing something like was printed by another reviewer.... Lots of reading, learning, etc.... but went on a Thursday afternoon... it just happened there were a bunch of school tours going on when we were there that took away from the experience.... it just wasn't that relaxed....with... more

The Atmoic Testing Museum is located on East Flamingo Rd. The museum is very fascinating, whether your a science buff or just looking for a way to spend a couple of hours outside the strip, this is the place for you. When you first pull up you'll notice the building is rather large, admission is on the right. You'll begin... more

My wife and i visited the Atomic Testing Museum during a recent trip to Vegas. We took a pleasant walk from the strip, down Flamingo, to the museum which took about 30 minutes each way, and easily found it inside the Desert Research Institute building. The museum looks well kept and is very modern and the exibits are all in... more

Interesting and informative museum. Had planned on stopping here all along but after hiking over strip during morning and also walking out here, not sure if the quality of the museum mattered or it was just getting into an air-conditioned facility to obtain relief from 100 degree temperature. Putting that aside, we really did like the museum, especially as an... more

I didn't really know what to expect going to this Museum -, maybe some weird guy’s basement all dolled up with a bunch of stuff he collected. But I was very wrong about that. First off, this was one of the swankiest museums I've ever been in. Everything is professionally done, clean, interactive, working, and interesting. You can tell a... more
