There is a huge difference between the Strip & downtown. Whereas the Strip is a mixture of elegence & tackiness, downtown has more of a State Fair or carnival feel to it. This is not necessarily a bad thing. I went in heels and a nicer outfit and felt pretty overdressed, but I still had a nice time. I went... more

On my second trip to Las Vegas this summer, we decided to skip the Strip and head over to the Fremont Street Experience. The casinos and neon lights are what I think of whenever I envision "old" Las Vegas. Loved the light show and the street vendors. There were terrific free concerts and it was a blast watching artists at... more

Check this place out at night when it is all lit up. It is near the top of any Vegas must-do list. There are also some really cheap souvenier stands in the area. But don't wander further than a block from the street at night. It does not seem very safe in the surrounding area. On Fremont St. itself, I've... more

The light show was just amazing Great atmosphere lots going on Was having way too much fun to feel unsafe or notice any dodgy people hanging around. Loved the closeness of all the casinos and they had a great band playing when we were there Must see on any vegas Trip. Know people from work who have been to vegas... more

Fremont Street is an eclectic, unique place to visit while in Vegas. Its street party style setup makes for a great atmosphere, and the numerous street acts provide some wonderful entertainment. There’s the usual gift shop boutiques here as well as a number of food vendors, including a Walgreens if you need to do some late night grocery shopping. They... more

we went to Fremont Street on a sunday night and it was absolutley amazing... the cocktail vendors were so much cheaper than on the strip, live music was great, and the casino's had REAL COIN OPERATED SLOTS which we loved, and missed on the strip. The light show was amazing too, it had a great Music theme and got all... more

Fremont Street was fun at night! Plenty of cheap drinks, food and gambling. We were dancing in the streets! There was a fun edginess to it, that I have always felt lacking over on the Strip. We felt safe, but remained aware like in any big city. Over on the strip the atmosphere feels more refined, scripted and controlled. At... more

We were told to visit at night becuase the light show is worth seeing. We were also told to avoid the area at night becuase it is not safe. We decided to visit in the day first and then see what we thought. We didn't go back at night, i'll leave it at that. more

Getting to Fremont was a $24 cab fare + tip from the Excalibur. It was worth it. The best thing was the Light Show Canopy, not for the show. On the day we went it was 112 degrees F, and the canopy made it feel a ton cooler. It provides constant shade and makes walking ok in that heat. We... more
