We stayed at Harrah's on the stip which is about 7 miles from Fremont Street so we had to take a cab to get to this FREE "Fremont Street Experience" that had great reviews on Tripadvisor. The cab cost about $27 EACH way. What a freakin' rip off. The light show (on the world's largest television screen...yawn) was okay, but... more

We saw the Freemont Experience about 8 years ago and it was great. If you are already down there it is worth peeking out of a casino for a look but I wouldn't recommend a special trip down there just for the show. Just last November we went again and it was like a strange psychedelic acid trip. I am... more

We went down to Fremont St in the evening for an unforgettable night at the Fremont St experience. The light shows there start at 8.30 then go on the hour from 9pm. We saw the Queen (pop group) light show. It was spectacular and the technology involved is mind boggling. The street is very safe and lots of nifty shops... more

The Fremont Street Experience and downtown Las Vegas are great fun. The light show is always good and they play great music as well. When the light show is not running they usually have live bands playing and all the ones we've seen are great. The whole downtown Las Vegas atmosphere is great and much more enjoyable than the Strip.... more

If you are into poker this is the place to play. The casinos here are smaller and not very grand. Low on the technology of the strip casinos but it is so relaxed and more fun. Mermaid Casino is a very cheap place to grab a "meal". We ate 99 cent hotdogs and free beer (we paid a $4 tip... more

Went to see the last show at 12 midnight. Stayed at Four Queens and thought we'd like to see what old vegas has to offer.Few people were there at the light show. It was just a big display of colorful animations with sound, that's it! Most of the stuff they showed were cartoons, not impressive. Now that I've known it,... more

We would recommend taking a cab there and back. We are glad we went at least once - one more unusual thing to experience in Vegas. We liked the laid back atmosphere of the area. Great place to get drunk at - drinks are a bit cheaper than the strip (or bring your own) and it is easy to walk... more

Given all of the positive reviews of Fremont Street, I am providing this review as a public service. With a slight twinge of reluctance, I am giving a "Terrible" rating to the Fremont Street experience. First, the reasons to go: (1) this is where Vegas started, (2) the casino lights (which you've likely seen before on tv) are kind of... more

Okay, there a few things you should know about Fremont Street before going. 1) Sketchy Area: I went with 4 people, 2 guys and 2 girls at around 10 PM. Now I can handle myself pretty well, but the others did not feel safe. I admit, it does have a rough feel, but I came to see the older style... more

We visited Freemont Street on our last night in Vegas, it definitley has a different feel to the strip down there but in a positive way. We had to wait a while for the light show to come on but there was plenty to see and do before then. There was a live band playing and a man on a... more
